We were visiting Newark for a furry convention nearby and my partner and I got stuck in a random hailstorm on our way to Chipotle down the street. We took cover in Home Grown and found out it's got a large selection of vegan selections, which was a surprise! We took the opportunity for a date and our server, Dana, was wonderful. They introduced us to the restaurant and gave us an overview of the menu, specials, and their favorite drink. We ended up ordering the Maple Barbecue seitan wings, the casserole style loaded fries, the seitan birria tacos, the winter mac, and Dana's favorite drink, the Bird by Bird. The drink was amazing and a perfect choice with all of the food being incredible. I wish there was one near where we live. What an absolutely wonderful date.

Had an unbelievably good breakfast here after a short stay in Newark for a friends 40th birthday. Very impressive bourbon selection, along with a very professional staff. May consider taking the 70 mile drive just to visit this establishment again. Well done home grown cafe!

My son and I greatly enjoy Home Grown. We are both vegan and we often go with friends who have other dietary needs/restrictions. *There is something for everyone*, options are clearly labeled with easy to understand icons, and staff are super helpful in making any needed accommodations.
Like most restaurants, they do have the occasional "hiccup" where something is less than their usual 100% with the food (e.g. out of stock items, not prepared as well as before, etc.). That said, we still come back for the majority of the time when everything is delicious and perfect!

Not a great menu. Service isn't great. The decor is fine, but the vibe is lacking genuineness

Alot of options for veg. But if you are like who wants some non-veg but not red meat. Then limited options.

Had birthday dinner reservations here. Very great service from our waitress, she was understanding when I accidentally ordered a second drink I didn't mean to ask for. The Winter Mac (and cheese) was amazing and was a huge portion. Very conveniently located on Main Street for UD students. Good bar too

Heard good things but couldn’t try it for takeout, because the girl answered the phone and asked to put me “on a brief hold.” (yeah we’ve all heard that before and I was expecting a few minutes wait which would be fine ).
After about 8 minutes of silence (no music, no nothing ), I hung up. 7pm on Thursday, so I imagine it was busy, but seriously? Maybe I’ll give them another shot sometime and update the rating.

Do not get their pickle platter. It being very small was a plus just because it was so nasty! For that price ?? Absolutely not also . Food is way over priced for such low quality. If I could give no stars I would .

The food was outstanding and so was the atmosphere. It was a warm and relaxed vibe with lots of cool pop culture art. I also loved the use of mirrors that made the room feel very open and larger than it really was. The service was quick, attentive, and very human. Our server David was very nice and talked over drink and entree options with us all and gave recommendations. I had the drink he designed, 'Sunset at Bob's' and it was very delicious. The whiskey paired well with lemon and other spices and while it was strong, it was not too strong to enjoy by any means. It was a slow sipper that lasted me the entire meal but still got me buzzed. I had the Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich and it was amazing! The chicken was fresh and moist with an amazing sauce that was a perfect blend of spicy and sweet. The pickles added a great salty touch and the crispy haystack onions gave the sandwich a very nice depth of texture and rounded out the flavors nicely. I had it with a side of sweet potato fries and they were also cooked to perfection. Lastly, they had very reasonable prices for the quality of the food, 10/10 would come back again
