This was one of the most frustrating dining experiences I’ve ever had. Despite having servers, the restaurant forces you to order and manage everything through your phone, which makes communication impossible and leaves no way to customize your order. On top of that, I waited over an hour just for an appetizer that turned out to be two small pieces of shrimp tempura — hardly worth the wait.

To make matters worse, they presented me with one total on the check but then charged my card for double the amount without informing me. That’s dishonest and unacceptable. Between the lack of service, poor food value, and shady billing practices, I cannot recommend this place.

This was our third visit, and unfortunately our last.
• First visit: a large piece of zucchini was thrown toward my baby.
• Second visit (about 3 years ago): portions were extremely small compared to other hibachi restaurants.
• Third visit: again, portions were tiny, and an automatic 18% gratuity was added.

To make matters worse, I accidentally left my jacket on the bathroom stall door while managing three kids. When I went back after our meal, it was gone. The host admitted she saw it hanging there but didn’t pick it up, and it was never returned. I strongly suspect one of the staff took it.

Between poor portions, automatic gratuity, and now a missing jacket, I cannot recommend this location. Three strikes, and we’re done.

We had to wait around 30 to 45 mins for a table for hibachi. Then when we got to our table it was another very long wait. We ordered our food and drinks however it took almost a half an hour to get our beverages. The almost an hour sitting to start getting food. I ordered the filet which was weirdly fatty but everything tasted good. We went on a Sunday. While the host was a very nice man, the waitress was not. The chefs, of course are phenomenal! All in all, I would try this restaurant again on a different day.

Great sushi, service, and variety, One of the few places after the pandemic that has Ikura/ Salmon Roe!!!

Ate here this past Friday for an anniversary dinner and was very disappointed the food was just alright, the staff was dismissive and looked like they'd rather be anywhere else. The red flags should have been the lack of customers on a Friday evening.

Great place to host a party. A dining gem in Newark. Very reasonably priced I usually order a few rolls each visit and then I'll order a few more to go so I can enjoy their sushi at home. I try to come here as often as possible. So worth the 3o minute drive. I came for the sushi and stayed for the delicious Habachi Salmon. I alays look forward to my next visit here.

My husband and I had a truly wonderful experience, we were sat with two young ladies who were were nice. The food was delicious, the staff was polite, prompt, and kind. 10/10 a stellar experience that saved our date night. You can tell when people enjoy what they do or are at the very least well compensated for a job well done.

Love this place! Excellent sushi, talented hibachi chef, and attentive servers. Our new place to go for Japanese cuisine. Clean, fresh, and professional presentation. Heartily recommend.

It is my third time visiting Ichiban since moving to DE in May. The atmosphere is decent, laid back and they play a lot of modern pop music and some oldies in between. The inside has kind of an older feel to it. They have hibachi and a sushi bar, along with other plates and a kid's menu. I have only gone for the Sushi, and it is also very decent for the price.

My first time was a Sunday night, and they had a half-off special on rolls, which was an unexpected plus. Our waiter was an older Asian man who was so kind, respectful and very attentive. I found out they had an all you can eat Sushi deal as well for about $25-$30 bucks depending on the time you visit.

My second visit I went during lunch time by myself and then the third time during dinner with a guest. Both times we did all you can eat sushi plus cocktails and soft drinks. Both times we were very mindful with how much was ordered to not waste any food and tipped. The Sushi was still decent, however, the service and attitude from the staff was very awkward. It was almost as if they didn't like that we were doing the deal. The service became very slow and there was a sense of annoyance that came from the waiter. It was the same women both times. The last two experiences were very strange.

I would definitely recommend trying the place, but I am not sure if I will visit again.

Parking: They have parking but the spaces are limited because it is a very compacted lot. I've never had issues getting a parking space.
