It is classic Japanese menus, reasonable price for student of UD, bright, clean space for visiting family to eat lunch or dinner together. Behind restaurant has no-toll parking spaces but not many of course, you need to get there earlier. Good food, authenticated specially the appetizer we like. However, one appetizer I ordered (2 Piece Pork Bun) should be steam hot and it was not. Obviously, the restaurant did not care the detail and let me eat not so hot dish. That's why I only give 3 stars. Need some improvement on the kitchen.

After touring University of Delaware Saturday, we decided to luncheon on the nearby thoroughfare of Main St to get a projection of student life. We’d actually heard from a graduate student Teddy about Ramen Kumamoto. Well thank you Teddy!!! We weren’t disappointed. There was a dish for me that suited my sensitivities of no red meat, the place was immaculate and food was delicious. In the spirit of student life it was also quite economical. We even got a chance to talk with alumni’s of the university who worked there and others who dined in. At $50.00 for 4 people this was a major value—and you can afford to tip Dan the waiter higher...lol....

Very large portions of ramen. Choose the kind of noodle , broth, and add ons. Is was delicious. Staff very nice and helpful. Very small place but did not have trouble getting in on a Saturday early evening.

We live in MD but go out of our way to eat here at least twice a month. The Ramen is always cooked perfectly, the staff is friendly and always remember us. It can get very crowded but if you’re patient it’s worth it.

This is one of the best Ramen Noodle Soup I ever had in Delaware. It was crowded on the weekend but it is worth waiting for to get seated !

Dined there with family the evening before admitted students day March 2. The place is small, hectic, and a little noisy. Decor is modern and minimalist. It is full of students and the energy that they bring. Service was friendly and efficient. We enjoyed a variety of (mostly fried) appetisers and all had different main courses. I had ramen which was complex, rich and very tasty, but everybody enjoyed their food. The bill totalled $57 before gratuity which I thought very reasonable. The only (minor) drawback is that they serve no alcohol and nor is one permitted to BYOB. Not sure whether this is a local regulation or house rules (possibly to discourage people from lingering? This is a high turnover restaurant.) but I would have enjoyed a beer.

This place is simple, yet awesome. They dont make anything complicated. Their service is spot on. Their ramen is honestly the best around, that I have had. Its located right in Newark which sometimes I'm not particular about going. Still amazing though

We received a recommendation from a vendor in a nearby village to go here and were most definitely pleased that in a college town where there are MANY restaurant choices from which to choose, that he steered us here for our first trip into town. We were first greeted by the very friendly staff who all seemed genuinely happy to be working there--which we felt, in itself, is a good sign. The menu had good variety and helpful descriptions of the food, and the wait staff was happy to answer any additional questions we had. We started by sharing an appetizer of the Charshu Onigiri--that came with a delightful sauce with just the slight bit of heat (I'll guess from Siraccha sauce?) It was about the size of a tennis ball or baseball, so could have been eaten by one with a heartier appetite, but it was plenty as we just wanted a sampling. My friend ordered the Chicken Cutlet Curry Platter, which came with a fabulous curry sauce, a heaping portion of rice and a nice sized, very fresh salad. My friend had previously lived in Japan and said that her meal was very authentic cuisine. While I had avoided ordering curry, thinking it was too spicy for my tastes, my friend explained--and the waitress concurred--that Japanese curry is sweeter and less spicy than Indian curry and when I tasted it for myself, I found it very pleasant. I went with the Charshu Ramen bowl and was delighted. LOTS of noodles (that you can order to your desired firmness), tasty broth, plenty of pork and just a touch of green scallions and tasty red ginger. I was also pleased to see that if you like to eat all your noodles and find yourself with broth left in your bowl...OR if you are more of a broth slurper who ends up with leftover noodles... you can ask your waiter to just come back and top off your bowl with an extra serving of one or the other. Just like being at home! How can you beat that? The prices were MOST reasonable for the quality of the food and the amount received. There are MANY choices of places to eat in Newark and while there are others that were also tempting and that I would like to try if I should visit here again, I would definitely be tempted to repeat Ramen Kumamoto.

The food here are quite authentic Japanese food, great price, very friendly staff. The only down side is parking, lunch time is best to dine in. Dinner time is overly crowded and hard to get the parking spot since it’s located right in the middle of Main Street.

We've had just about everything on the menu, and enjoyed it all. Love those tiny pancakes stuffed with meat! All the broths are good, all the ramens are good, and if you occasionally, like me, just want broth and your choice of noodles, ask. Most of the servers speak English as a second language. The place is nearly always crowded, partly because it is small and partly because it is delicious. The address is on E. Main Street, but it is actually on the side of building with many stores that fronts on Main Street, so when you see the Subway sign, head down the side of the building until you find Kumamoto. Really good!
