Found the restaurant on line while visiting Newark De was pleasantly surprised we all enjoyed our dishes. I even took a meal home for a family member everyone loved their food. Our server was fantastic!!!
Taverna never disappoints! We were able to make a reservation, eat outside, wonderful service, and delicious food!
Had a really nice visit here on Sunday. We had a mix of brunch and lunch food and everything was delicious. My mushroom pizza was so good! We sat outside which was really nice. Service was excellent. Looking forward to our next visit when we next come visit our UD student!
Went here based on recommendation of friends. The chicken parm was good however the chicken cacciatore was dry & the orzo & the risotto were watery & had no flavor. The staff however was very attentive & friendly.
Solid good restaurant that is delightful in every way. One of our favorites in the local Newark Delaware area. Resevations recommended as it is a college town that gets busy especially when parents are visiting; it appears to be a favorite place for parents to dine when visiting their kids. And a favorite for a reason. It's good.

Good spot for rustic Italian. Would have said something about the ice-cold coffee that was served but was running late for an engagement.
A all around wonderful restaurant in Newark Delaware. Good food and service in a nice/casual atmosphere that is warm and welcoming. Can get busy and a bit loud when large groups are there at the same time. Being in a college town, that can happen when parents come in to visit their children and take them and their friends to this wonderful restaurant. Being a busy town, parking can be a bit challenging - either paid street parking or paid parking lots. BUT, eventually parking is found, but be prepared to walk a short distance and give yourself time to find a spot before your dinner reservation.
Great Italian food off of I-95 near UD campus. Worth a slight detour from the highway or Christiana Mall for truly authentic Italian food. If they are serving the artichokes and broccoli rabe make sure to order them. Their pastas were great and sauces delicious!
My wife and I try to do a date night every Friday and for this one we chose Taverna. The staff were nice and our waitress (Courtney) was great. We ordered from the restaurants new menu and it was worth it! We got the fried mozzarella, Cesar salad, gnocchi, and the rigatoni. Seriously, this meal was delicious. Easily some of the best Italian I’ve had out in a while. The meal was priced incredibly well also. The manager Patrick came and check on our table and he was awesome too. It was obvious that Patrick was dedicated to good service and it contributed to our great night!
I recommend trying this spot.

Emma wa great, wine was delicious. I loved the lasagna but it was on the salty side. Ambiance is always great and a friendly staff.

I didn't have high expectations upon entering the restaurant, as it was noisy, chaotic, and super busy. Boy was I mistaken! The service was excellent, from the polite and efficient hostess who had to reseat us due to a table mix-up, to the courteous food servers, and especially our waitress Brenna. Brenna handled the large table near us as well as the other many tables she had with a competent grace that didn't miss a beat. Oh and the food was delicious as well. We had a very enjoyable dinner! Would highly recommend.
Always great food, but giant portions! One appetizer or salad and one meal is plenty for two people
We love Taverna! We dine here about 10 times every year. Great menu and food quality, pretty inventive dishes. Servers are always attentive and polite; obviously well trained. It can get quite loud when busy, which can be a negative, but also a positive; it adds an energetic vibe. I always finish with a limoncello (even though it's not on the menu).
There really isn't a better place to eat on main street (for a sit down restaurant), the pizzas are great and the drinks are decent. I live in the area and frequent when UD is off session as main street gets busy. It's also just expensive enough (i.e. not chipotle or McDonalds type) that not too many students go for anything beyond drinks and you can usually find a table even on Friday nights during school session.
