I have been visiting the border Cafe and had a good experience overall. The food is tasty, but the menu is a bit limited compared to other restaurants. The service is generally good and the staff are friendly. However, the waitress sometimes forgets a few things, and we noticed the bill had an extra item once and another time something we ordered was missing, so it’s a good idea to double-check the bill before paying.
One thing I really liked is that there was no wait time when we visited, which made the experience convenient. They also have a fun theme at times and staff may dress based on the occasion, which adds a nice touch to the atmosphere.
Overall, it’s a nice place for a casual meal with good food, but just make sure to review your order and bill.

I've been coming here since they opened for over 20 years and never been disappointed by their service or food. There's a reason this spot is so popular.

Good food, good atmosphere and plenty of parking. Small menu, but everything tastes good. Fajitas are just great. When it's crowded, it takes time, otherwise good service

This place rocks! Food is excellent!
I’ve been going here for about two years now and this is my of my favorite restaurants in the area. The Baja Shrimp tacos have this amazing sauce that makes the meal so so good. And the burros have such a good sauce too. I also love their fries, they’re so unique with them being so thin. The service here is also great. You get sat quickly, your server comes over fast, and your food comes out fast. The other night I had this server Dana who was so sweet and we had a nice conversation. It was great because I was dining alone so I was happy to have someone to talk to. And she recommended the pastelitos and they were delicious. Highly recommend!!!

Jose's Border Cafe Stanton-Christiana Rd Newark, DE Dinner for two, April 15, 2025. Our two meals were served and we barely got started eating and the server (Davin M) brought our check and stated you can pay whenever you are ready. My thoughts were, what if we want something else, drinks, dessert, etc., don't push us out the door before we can eat. Then one meal had a long hair in it which I pulled out of my mouth with a byte of food. Needless to say I was done with this restaurant. The server didn't seem overly concerned and said he would tell the manager. His manager came out and said she would take one meal off the bill. I stacked the two meals and said that was unacceptable because we are not eating either meal because of their uncleanlenes in the kitchen. She took the hint and adjusted our bill leaving the drinks to be paid for. This restaurant manager didn't have the decency to remove the drinks along with the hairy food much less show any ownership to her kitchen staff serving food with hair in it. I have to wonder how filthy their kitchen is.

Yum! We drive an hour to eat here and it’s so worth it! Chicken quesadillas are the best! The servers are friendly and service is quick. Delicious!
We were in a road trip from South Carolina and chose to stop at one of our favorite restaurants. We were so bummed to realize they have removed many items from their menu. Jim Bowie with the bourbon reduction cream sauce was our favorite dishes! Many other items removed as well.
We came all the way from Staten Island to Border cafe aka JOSE TEJAS . To satisfy my craving for the SEAFOOD ENCHILADAS. One of my friends and family’s favorite dish from Jose Tejas . They discontinued the seafood enchiladas at the Woodbridge location. WHY ?? . Since they changed the menu we do not go to the one in Woodbridge. Also my wife’s favorite Chicken Guadalajara , discontinued. WHY ?? Anyway. Every thing we ate and drank at the border cafe was EXCELLENT. Except. The new tortillas chips are not good. They just changed the chips recently. I’m sure these are less expensive. But we still left satisfied with a smile . Please bring the SEAFOOD ENCHILADAS back to the Woodbridge location.
Good food and service!
