I have been a Chaps Pit Beef customer for a long time, I have been to the Frederick and Baltimore locations many times, today I went to the Rehoboth location and was very disappointed. To start with the beef was overcooked even though we ordered medium, the beef was dry and very thin and seasoned with something that did not taste good along with the lack of a decent amount of beef on the bun was minuscule. The sausage was dry and totally lacked any flavor or heat not mention chopped into such small pieces instead of just cutting the sausage in half. I also find it very strange that the cups, sandwich wrappers and side dish lids lacked the Chaps logo which is very odd as well.If this poor quality continues Bull on the B. will be back on top in no time.

5 yrs and never no consistency with the food. Fries are a crapshoot. Gravy 5. Pitbeef 5. Hamburger 5. Ham 0. Toppings are a crapshoot. No one knows how to slice a potato for fries. Last order fries were the size of greasy overcooked fingertips. Fries were lousy most of my 5year of visits. Had enough, no more. Done!

The aroma of perfectly smoked meats filled the air, setting the stage for an unforgettable dining experience.First and foremost, the beef here is simply phenomenal. Smoked to perfection, each bite is a harmonious blend of smokiness, tenderness, and flavor that tantalizes the taste buds. It's evident that Chaps Pit Beef takes pride in their craft, using high-quality ingredients and time-honored smoking techniques that make their dishes stand out.The sides deserve a special mention too. From the creamy coleslaw to the perfectly seasoned fries, each side dish complements the main course beautifully, enhancing the overall meal without overpowering it.The ambiance of the restaurant adds to the experience. It's cozy, inviting, and perfectly encapsulates the charm of Rehoboth. Whether you're a local or just passing through, Chaps makes you feel right at home with its warm and friendly atmosphere. But what truly sets Chaps Pit Beef apart is the exceptional service. Food was good. Kitchen staff were professional and courteous.Service at the bar was awful. After ordering our food at the counter, we made our way to the bar where we were refused service and told we could not sit at the bar because we had ordered food already. The bartender stated that he “wouldn’t make enough money” off us to be worth his time.Funny enough we had intended to spend quite a lot of money at that bar. That is, until we were forced to go spend it elsewhere.Update: the official response from this business is wildly unprofessional.

I ordered a pit beef/ham sandwich. It came on a sub roll that had been left on the grill to long and was burnt. Roll was black. I had to return it. I just asked them to switch the bead. I had to wait while they made a whole new sandwich. Place had a large speaker on a stand blasting the TV audio. So loud it was hard to hear someday your table talking to you. Place is not run well.Kid-friendliness: Fine place to bring the family.

Visited on Sunday of Labor Day weekend, and it was decently busy around 1PM. The food took a while to cook. We order take out but ended up eating in the restaurant. They may have gotten confused as they put our order at the bar for a while and never called our number. Either that or we couldn't understand when they were shouting it out.The food was fantastic. We ordered the pit beef open face and fry platter with rare doneness. It was very good. Also got the Big John. I think the sausage surprised us as it was a little spicy. It's not bad, but just not expected. We shared these with our 2 older kids. Everyone agreed it was good. There was a good selection of sauces. I liked the sweet baby rays the most, which is what we use at home.We would definitely go back again. The atmosphere was great and wasn't super crowded. My brother in law liked it so much that he went back the next day to get more. Haha.Vegetarian options: Didn't think anything stood out on their menu. Maybe the salads?Dietary restrictions: Don't think you'll have much luck here if you have dietary restrictions.Parking: There were plenty of parking spaces when we arrived. It was a little hard to find as it faced away from the road.Kid-friendliness: They do have a kids' menu but didn't order anything. There was a lot for the kids to look at to keep them entertained, including the multiple tvs all over the walls. There is a bar and some extra bar height seating around the outside of the restaurant, which may not be the best for little kids.

As a Baltimorean I was so glad when chaps opened this location on the peninsula. When I used to live abroad on every trip back home to Maryland I would frequent the original location as soon as I left the airport. I would come whenever I had a chance to have a hometown pit beef. After one hard day at work I came to the bar to relax and have some comfort food and that was when I met Jamie. Needing a drink I asked her what she would recommend and she made me a margarita. I do not exaggerate when I say that it was one of the best I have had in my life. She also introduced me to so many other items on the menu that I would have never tried as I was always a pit beef order.Honestly if you want great food and good company you need to frequent this place. Challenge her with your drink order … she will not disappoint

So, I've tried with Chaps over and over because I think the food is really good...but I may be finally done trying .... I understand there is a shortage of help at certain places but man the service is awful here and it's a counter service restaurant. The "order at bar" system just doesn't work. It's annoying and slow and the bar person is usually miserable regardless who it is Which doesn't help. Today I went In and had to order at bar. went to bar and said I'll have the number 1 special (pit beef sandwich, small fry and small drink) it was usually about $16. The bartender snaps back and says we don't have specials, only suggestions.... I've lived in Rehoboth over 20yrs and have been going to chaps since opening .... they always offered that meal special with two others that were always in the board. So ok, I just shrugged and ordered the food .... for one SMALL sandwich small drink and small fry they charged $22 .... of course everywhere was hurt by covid with help and food costs ...but really $22 ? ... I went over and looked at the special board and the specials are still there they just erased the prices. my friend got the same thing except his sandwich was a Ruben ... his bill was $26 !! You can go to any mid-high end Rehoboth restaurant off season and get spectacular meals for under $20 ... Chaps is just not worth it anymore... cranky service and unbelievable pricing ...Sad because the food was decent.

Their meat options are delicious and the serving sizes are generous. Plenty of self-serve condiments available. They have a well stocked bar for drink options to go with your meal.Parking: Plenty of parking.

Well, it had been 3 years since I visited this place last. I was extremely turned off the first time…but it had been 3 years…I figured why not try again. Maybe things changed. It was my birthday, so we decided to try it again. Well….yeah…just as I remembered. Would love it if they stopped charging people .60 for a piece of lettuce, .60 for a slice of tomato, .60 cents for a few slivers of onions. Bacon, I get the up charge…cheese? Ok…fine…cheese. But lettuce, tomato, and onion?!?! $2.00 extra for THAT? Unacceptable. No one does this. I’m well traveled, and never seen people charging for that!! Especially when the girl asking “do you want lettuce, tomato, and onion”, and my wife just says yes, and the girl doesn’t tell you that you’ll be charged extra for those things, and it’s not posted up anywhere either. very misleading. And, the service from the bar was horrendous. To the point where our food was out and getting cold while we were still standing there waiting to order a drink (and there was no one in front of us, and the bar tender didn’t even acknowledge us standing there for 10 mins)….so we just got water cups and sat down. Disappointing because it was my birthday, and this was my birthday dinner, and we wanted a drink to just cheers to my birthday. But…at least we cheers’d with our water cups. The prices are already high. Inflation…and we live in a touristy area…but man, that service, and those hidden fees for friggin’ LETTUCE and such….Never going back here. It’s the principle.I’d pay that price, if the service was spectacular. But the place was empty, minus a few folks at the bar. Oh, and as we stood there waiting to order a drink, we saw the bartender make her OWN drink and have a sip in front of us, while she made 2 other drinks. I mean, at least greet us and say “one second” or something…don’t just act like we’re invisible. My wife had to ASK if we ordered there (even though we KNEW that’s where we ordered)…we did that because she acted like we weren’t there.$40 for 2 sandwiches and large fries.Sandwiches were good. They had a great taste. But it’s not worth the deception in pricing, nor the terrible service. It’s not like we were waited on. We go order at 2 separate counters (1 for food, 1 for drinks…which means now we have to pay 2 separate times for ONE meal)…we go pick up our food and drinks at their separate counters, and we bus our tables. So…where’s the value?! Prices need to come down!!!!!I’d except bad service on a weekend evening in the summer….but it was Tuesday, at 5pm…after Labor Day. No excuses. You charge too much for the product you’re giving people. It’s time consumers stop accepting mediocrity. With inflation…our money is too precious to accept subpar service on the regular. People need to stop accepting this. Stop going to these places until they make a change that actually gives us our money’s worth.
