Racist/Roach infested/Hostile work environmentI worked there for a catering event for a week and the owner Glenn is psychotic/racist. He has anger issues, runs around smashing plates and screams to the workers calling them derogatory names, and refers to anyone of color as "The Blacks". I'm half Irish and African American but my appearance comes off as more Caucasian so they felt more comfortable saying racial slurs around me. One example, there was an African American family that came in to eat, and as they were getting ready to pay for the tab the owner Glenn referred to them as "The blacks that are always too poor to pay the bill". He stated this multiple times with another worker and I just overheard the conversation.Even in the short time I worked there, everyday another new hire that was scheduled before me would quit by noon because of the racist and hostile work environment the owner Glenn creates. There is a roach infestation in the basement and the way they store customers' food is disgusting. They don't wrap the food platters people order days in advance so it sits inside a warm box in the basement unwrapped and roaches inhabit those boxes. It's truly disgusting. These cookies are sold at Booths Corner Farmers Market (1362 Naamans Creek Rd, Garnet Valley, PA 19060). Glenn the owner doesn't practice safe or sanitary food preparation standards. After I discovered the roach infestation and said something to the owner about it they let me go without explanation. They sold the business to a new owner and they are trying to hide that the place is infested with roaches and mice and he figured I would let Joe (the new owner that's supposed to take over in December) know so he ended up firing me.They also have 2 kids working there ages 13-15 which I'm sure is against child labor laws. I would say most of the racist slurs came from them all day which just shows you what people teach their children behind closed doors.I've cooked as a sous chef for 10 years and this was a position I applied for because they needed a BOH manager with my level of experience but they are looking for anyone racist to work with them because they prefer like-minded individuals instead of people offering cooking skills.

First time here. I brought my husband here for his birthday. It definitely did not disappoint. Beautiful decor. Wait staff Kelly and Wade were amazing. Very helpful and patient. Started off with appetizers. We had the Alligator meatballs and shrimp lejon. Main course we both had filet mignon with twice baked potatoes and brussel sprouts. Everything was cooked to perfection. We ended our delicious meal with dessert. We chose the bread pudding and peanut butter and chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream. Will definitely return. Thank you for an Amazing. Spectacular. Delicious dinner.

Appleton catered a banquet I went to last week. Let me just say… the food was absolutely HORRIBLE. There was a shrimp rice dish that had no flavor, and tasted weird. The roasted potatoes had no flavor, and looked like no seasoning was put on at all. The green beans tasted like you just threw them into the pan from a can. The Mac and cheese didn’t even taste like Mac and cheese. It was very very bland, and it was too thick, not cheesy. The chicken Chesapeake was dry, and the sauce that went with it tasted awful. Very very disappointing. There were A LOT of dinner plates with lots of food on it going right in the trash. I have never had such a bad experience with a catering company, and this is my first review ever because it was that bad.
The Marshallton is a fantastic upscale Steakhouse! Owner and Chef, Glenn, is as personable as he is talented. Food was all top notch, perfectly cooked to order. Worth every penny for the food and atmosphere. Interior is redone, comfortable yet sophisticated. Several areas could be closed off for private parties. One area looks as if it might accommodate a Brunch Buffet, so can't wait to see what becomes of that. Definitely will return.
