Their was a concert at the Grand, so the place was packed. We sat at the very nice bar and our bartender. Kayla did an excellent job. She recommended the perfect wine and a great salad. I ordered the shrimp cocktail, and while the presentation was very nice, the trip was cooked to perfection, and were a very large size. The only issue was that they had very little flavor. I am not an expert, but I think they were probably prawns, instead of shrimp. Other than that the experience was wonderful and we will definitely be back.
Unfortunate and disappointing! This is an excellent restaurant ... when the systems are functioning. We allowed 1.5 hrs before a show assuming that with a tapas style menu, we should be able to get a starter, 2 cold dishes, 1 hot small plate and dessert in that time. First challenge was that we were informed 20 minutes after ordering that 1 choice was no longer available - should it take that long?! In the end, it was about 45 mins into the meal before our starter arrived and well over an hour to see the 2 cold dishes (1 being a salad which came so late it was comped and looked like it was thrown into the bowl). Left before the hot dish and consequently no dessert. It must be very difficult to staff for a pre show crowd. That said, there are levers around staffing, reservations, walk ins, food prep and order management that didn't seem to be at play. Should be a great restaurant but even with a reservation made 3 months in advance, this was a complete fail.
We had a 5:15pm reservation for 4 people for a 7:30 show at The Grande on 6-30. We told our server this upfront. Our server was prompt w our drink and food orders. We ordered 4 snacks, 1 small plate and a 2 pound snapper for the table. Not sure why but the snacks and small plates came out one at a time which was awkward as some of us ordered an item mostly for themselves. It was uncomfortable eating w nothing else in front of the rest of the diners. After all snacks & small plates were eaten we waited almost 45 minutes until 7pm before I flagged down a server (not ours) to inquire that we had to leave. A few minutes later the Manager came out w our beautiful looking snapper. She asked “what do you want me to do w this”. We said filet it and put into 2 containers (for the 2 couples). By the time our server brought it out it was 7:15! I mentioned to the Manager that the snapper should have been comped as the kitchen timing was way way off to not have “ a signature dish” delivered anywhere near on-time. We left immediately, my car was parked out front so I put the to go bags in my car and we hurried to the show getting to our seats just in time for the show to start. The food and drinks we had were delicious but dribbling out the snacks and small plates and never receiving our main dish by over an hour and 45 minutes is unacceptable. Bardea may be a James Beard finalist for the food but is lacking in service and kitchen timing.
We had another great meal at Bardea. Chef Antimo Dimeo creates delicious dishes full of flavor that change seasonally. The servers are professional and friendly. The cocktails are perfect. We make sure to eat at Bardea whenever we are in or near Wilmington.
Easy to find with ample surrounding street parking. The menu is mostly tapas style and everything we tried was delicious. We commented several times how it was a terrific spot, especially considering we don't have to travel to Philadelphia for it. We'll definitely return with family and friends.
BF&G is a great food experience if you are comfortable with the tapas/mezzes approach. The tastes are wonderfully imaginative and the presentation is simple but elegant. The servers and runners are knowledgeable and helpful. The dining room is loud and not suitable for intimate conversations. Our hostess was kind enough to relocate us to the edge of the room near the bar, ant that helped. I'd give Bardea a five all around but visitors need to be know that it is pricey. Come prepared to drop a few Jacksons and you'll have a great experience.
The small plates were extremely small. When ordering baked potato side dish for $15 we received half a baked potato. The dishes came out all at different times and some were not hot. I asked for bread and asked it it was additional and they said yes, but we have pita bread that is free. Well, why didn't you bring that out in the beginning? They brought it out. It was really good. The salad was delicious. It's just a shame that they don't get bigger portions and charge so much for vegetables and small plates that are extremely small
Beautiful experience and the food was superb. Really enjoyed my evening spent with my dad who was traveling on from Texas. The staff and manager were too shelf. I am planning on returning next month for a night on the town with my girlfriends. Thank you so much for an enjoyable evening.
I enjoyed the experience, and the food was good not great and good. My belief is that if this restaurant were in downtown Philadelphia, it would probably have a hard time surviving. The seats that we sat in were extremely uncomfortable and the time between each course was very long. It was just my daughter and myself and it took us two hours to have Our dinner with dessert. Service was good. Kitchen was slow. I probably would go back and I am not rushing back to the restaurant.
Great place for special occasion! Free champagne for our anniversary—and a wonderful meal. Risotto was delicious, halibut perfectly cooked. Parking is tricky—will use valet next time.

Incredibly delicious and innovative dishes. New, modern, upscale restaurant and bar with knowledgeable and friendly staff. A totally fresh approach to every single dish we tried.
From my initial cocktail at the bar (while waiting for my dinner companion to show) through the small plates, pasta, pizza and to my expresso martini for dessert Bardea NEVER disappoints. Wonderful food, service, and atmosphere!!!
Everything from service to food was excellent. The menu offered a variety of dishes which our party explored with pleasure. Each was delivered and cleared with deliberate attention by the servers along with consistent checks for satisfaction or assistance. The staff were on point serving us from starters to family style dishes which satisfied all our different palates. My only suggestion for the management would be to lower the volume on the music. The music selection was fine. However, it was difficult to have a conversation at our table. Are you projecting a club setting or a comfortable environment to enjoy the dining experience??
Food was great. Service was a little slow, compared to other times we have came to the restaurant. We enjoyed the food, the company, and we still look forward to coming back.
The food was incredible! We had an excellent server who guided us through the process of ordering. We will definitely be returning on future trips to Wilmington!
