Awesome cafe! Was there for jazz brunch. Love the ambiance. The menu is eclectic and well put together. Def a little pricier, $20 for a big bowl of lentils and carrots/kale, but I guess you are paying for the experience of the place. I would def return.
Nice lunch in the porch. Had the black bean soup and nachos ziti with pork. It was very good and you got a lot of chips! . Soup was very tasty but not hot. We weren't rushed and enjoyed the afternoon.
A friend and I enjoyed a quiet lunch on the porch. The food was great, service just right. We were very pleased.
Was hoping it had gotten better - it hasn't. Ordered the Carolina Pork sandwich- that was very good and a nice amount. It had the option of a cup of soup on the side. I got the black bean soup - which years ago used to be good. Unfortunately it was a lukewarm almost broth like soup. It had a dolop of sour cream on top. I didn't mix the sour cream w the soup. Just tasted the soup and it was lukewarm. Waitress said it was due to sour cream. Nope - not reason. Instead of giving us a new cup and nuking it, they nuked it w the sour cream. Yuck. We also got a smash burger that was promised not to b tough. It was Very tough and I was cutting it w a knife. Also got the Adult thyme lemonade...it came in a tall glass. If there was Vodka in it you could have fooled me. But the lemonade was refreshing.
This funky little gem was fun. Unfortunately we brought grandmom and she is not a fan of loud music, lol. The food was good, we had a good time going. Will be back(without grandmom)
Great place, Excellent value! We both had the nightly dinner special last night , a penne pasta shrimp dish with tomatoes and spinach with a good sauce.maybe I could have had a bit more of it but delicious. A third person joined us spontaneously and that was ok. He had the lentil stew which was good. Free music yeah.
Unfortunately The Bellefonte Cafe seems to be struggling. We were a party of 4 seated outside on their back patio. I ordered a Strawberry Lime Mojito mocktail that was terrible... it tasted like a watered-down lemonade mix with a couple of sliced strawberries floating on top. No mint. I sent it back and was not charged for it. Our friends got soup for their appetizer and the curry carrot gazpacho was delicious. Not sure about the tomato bisque but it got eaten so I guess it was okay. My meal was a strawberry goat cheese salad with chicken added on top. It was okay. Another entree was pan-seared dill salmon which was a little dry but otherwise okay, lacked flavor. Someone else got the crab cake sandwich, just okay. Finally the shrimp & grits, lots of grits, so much half was left on the plate. I got the special peach pie for dessert. Too bad, it tasted like it was a frozen pie from the grocery store. Prices were reasonable. Service was a little slow, one server working about 4-5 tables. In order to use the bathroom, one must walk from the back patio to the front of the restaurant then climb a flight of stairs and venture into an un-air conditioned attic area. We won't be back.
salmon was wonderful. Eating on the patio is so nice. A great place to gather with good friends.
Birthday dinner table of five early dinner. Solo musician was great. Really quaint neighborhood restaurant feel. Bar looks fun to sit and have a casual dinner and a drink. Highly recommend
Great food. I had the smash burger-delicious-I'd get it again. Co-diner had the lentils and green onion, lemon and kale. Peach pie for dessert was good. Service just right. Music was a nice talent.

My partner and I, who had driven from Philadelphia to Wilmington to go to the Delaware Art Museum, were baffled by this restaurant. It's an exceedingly humble establishment, the upside of which is that plenty of original details have been preserved; it's like stepping back in time. But the food was extraordinarily bad. A Portuguese-style (?) soup with sausage and kale was a thin, dreary prison ration and a black bean soup was the same, albeit with a few black beans and a watery black bean puree, accompanied by several shards of what appeared to be scallion. Main dishes were an avocado wrap, which, although generous in size, contained rather little avocado and was packed with bland quinoa that included flaccid mixed greens and the ubiquitous pink strips of pickled onion. A polenta with shrimp... Not sure how to depict it except to say that the polenta contained lumps, like insufficiently stirred Cream of Wheat, and that the cheese liberally shaken on top had the commercial jacked-up taste of pre-grated "parmesan" that is sold on supermarket shelves and loved by children. The shrimp were slender things and not overcooked, so that was a plus. The restaurant was unable to provide us with sparkling water, as the only such thing on offer is club soda that issues from the bar gun dispenser. Service was friendly, attentive, and warm, but we were not asked why we had neglected to eat most of what had been placed before us.
We had a very pleasant experience. The menu, though somewhat limited, included several vegan choices. The portions were large and tasty and Katie provided excellent service. The prices were reasonable, except that the dessert we ordered was too pricey. We'll definitely be going back.
What a great experience! The service was quick and friendly with multiple check points throughout the evening. The food came out relatively fast and it was fresh. Overall a great experience! Would love to see a kids menu in the future to cater to the younger clientele.
There wasn't the live music we came for, but dinner was fantastic (smash burger and shrimp and grits). The waitress was really good, very sweet, was everyone there... as always. This restaurant is pure Love.
Excellence at its finest! The ambiance, the food. Definitely book a reservation on Sundays tho
