An award winning dinner for my son’s 29th birthday. The service was personable and amazing; the food was prefect and flavorful; we have always had a perfect experience and will always return!

This place was such a special find, wonderful owners & staff, delicious food (get the peach cobbler!) and great selection of other foods and wines to take home or have a glass while you are there. Cannot wait to visit again when we are next over from the UK!

We normally stop in for Lattes, on our way to Longwood Gardens. This morning (Saturday) we ordered 2 Lattes, and went to sit down. After 20 minutes, still no Lattes, so we went to ask. They had forgotten. She brought us 2 regular size, when we had ordered 2 large at the tune of almost $12. She said that large was nearly the same size! She remade them reluctantly, they were good but barely lukewarm
We felt that the staff was more interested in goofing off amongst each other than in taking care of their customers. We will not return!

Everything about Centreville Place is special. From the warm and inviting atmosphere to stellar food that is a cut above, the staff and the owners who greet you with a smile. Special evenings are a cut above with incredible food paired with just the right wine each mouthful and sip carefully explained by the hosts. Perfectly chosen furniture and antiques adorn this historic house and you feel like you step back to a simpler time where people gathered simply to chat for hour upon hour. Centreville Place is a gem and is a warm and inviting place whether for a cup or coffee and a scone or a lovely lunch of quiche and a salad. A trip here is always a treat!

This is the same review I just posted on Yelp, because why, on earth, would there be a any change in an honest review.... I have lived in the neighborhood of this establishment since the 1970s, while it is famous for its cheddar spread--famously known as Jane's. There used to be the Troll of Scandinavia, which stood at the back of Centreville, and later Susan owned the cafe--while Jane's spread went all over two counties so it is made by the Back Burner and the Country Butcher. Today, I stopped by, thinking, thoughtlessly, that, of course, I could trust this old reliable, which has been with me for more than forty years. What the Centreville Cafe served up tastes like dog food, and that's me talking about the dish enjoyed and loved fpr decades by everyone all over Chester County and Newcastle County. No one has ever disgraced Jane's, but now it has happened in Centreville, Delaware, where the famous spread was founded in the colonial village. When I tried to call them through their website, no one picked up, and there was no answering service, and no chance to record a comment. And when I tried to send them an email, their website gave me a false address, which also does not return messages. Don't ever go to this disgrace--because you would do better at McDonald's.

Breakfast croissant was delicious. Avocado toast was delicious. They were not prepared to serve our party of 12. Food was served disjointedly. After 40 minutes told ‘no quiche’ 😣

We stopped for lunch while sightseeing nearby. The kitchen staff easily accommodated our gluten and lactose intolerances. We had the chicken salad sandwich on gluten free bread, a turkey sandwich on a baguette, and a gluten free raspberry bar - delicious! Portion sizes are good and potato chips accompany sandwiches. Parking is very convenient; either on-street or right in front of the building. Comfortable seating in a nicely decorated dining area.
