If I would give this a NEGATIVE 10 stars I would. Just a bunch of horrible GREEDY business owners. Treats their employees like dog s*** and fires them without cause. They discriminate against age and plays so much favoritism toward those who do dirty to others. For those of you that read this review, PLEASE stay away from this location. Especially the other locations too.

Set in the 50s but also looks like they haven't cleaned it since then either! Hot dogs are not beef. They are made of chicken and pork. No pictures on menu. You order and hope for the best because the waiter will have to confirm every question you have.

the place was completely empty and a worker stated it was a 40 minute wait. she was very rude and it was obvious she didn’t want to serve us. we wanted to try and give charcoal pit a chance since it’s so worn down but we will definitely not coming again.

Super friendly staff and food and drinks were quick to come out and were a very good value and delicious. Need to work on dining area cleanliness such as vacuuming and cleaning the non working jukeboxes, also salt and pepper shakers were sticky. Other than that great overall.

Used to love this place growing up. Recent trip there just seemed dirty. Bathrooms are disgusting. Lemonade had a gnat floating in it and other bug roaming on the table. They raised the prices a little and it just doesn’t seem worth it for the quality of food. Can go to another restaurant and get better for the price.

My Uncle and I enjoy our lunch and cold beers here very much. Too bad they're getting rid of the chicken wraps. It's my Uncle's favorite. I was excited to learn there is a pool table in the back room .

A DE Classic has really gone down through the years. My family came after church for a quick bite to eat. We needed to travel back to PA so gave the pit a chance (since I am a DE native.) Our server was sweet and food was ok (not what it used to be.) The entire restaurant is filthy. From windows, to walls, bathroom, corner to corner is filthy. Kirkwood Highway location needs a thorough cleaning, extensive wipe and upgrade!!!! Missing the mark in the age of COVID badly! As a DE native visiting home, will not return*

If you like standing around not being waited on served or acknowledged as being in the building, THIS is the dump you should visit. Lots of employees none of them waiting on customers.

I enjoyed the food here but I’m not ordering from them anymore. They have consistently mess up the last half dozen times I’ve ordered take out. Leaving items out, ignoring special requests or modifications and the staff couldn’t care less when I called to let them know. After this many chances if just have to imagine it is never going to improve.

Great burgers, fries are okay. 99% of my take out orders have been seemlessThe indoor dining is cool, they have old fashion jukeboxes at eat table.

Nothing like the taste of a charcoal burger, it was very good. Our waiter was attentive even if appeared he was working the entire restaurant by himself. The "Brandywine" desert was very filling. Recommend they clean tables after each guest. Overall good experience.

This place is one of my favorites! Definitely a Delaware classic. I consider myself a connoisseur of food as I travel quite often for my “Gas, Grub, and Ghosts” v-log. These burgers are awesome! I’d recommend the Kennett Square burger if you like mushrooms. We’re only a few miles from the mushroom capital of the world! I also like their ice cream. They have a bunch of local favorites named after Delaware high schools. This is a good place for the whole family. Kids love it! They also have a few games and coin machines so bring some quarters. Great atmosphere as well here at the Charcoal Pit.

Ehh it's not as good as the one on 202. Tables was sticky food was not bad buy nothing special. Milk shakes were just ehh. I more than likely won't be back.

Not the Charcoal Pit from your childhood. This place has gone downhill, terrible food, staff and atmosphere.

A young man was touching himself in a booth nearby but the beer battered fish was wonderful
