We have to been to Ciro several times. This time we did the Valentine's menu and wine pairings. The food was delicious and the wine pairings were perfect. I have never had a meal that I did not enjoy here.

We've dined at Ciro several times, and the food had always been good. This time, we tried the chef's tasting menu. The choices were traditional, pescatarian, vegetarian, or gluten free. I chose traditional and my wife ordered pescatarian. We were both given pescatarian. When I asked the chef about not honoring my order, he rudely stated that the waitress should have explained to us that the all diners in one table would get the same dishes, regardless of the individual orders. What if he had arbitrarily chosen to serve a meat dish? My wife doesn't eat meat. Imagine if a diner has celiac disease and the cook chose not to honor their GF order? When we addressed this with the person who appeared to be the manager, he said he would reach out to us after he spoke with the cook. That never happened. Every time we'd ever been to Ciro, there had always been more vacant tables than occupied ones, which was puzzling as we thought the food had been good. We actually were planning on having a friend's birthday party at this restaurant. Needless to say after this experience, we will not be back.

We went for the New Year's Eve tasting menu. It was all delicious. We especially enjoyed the filet course and the trio of chocolate treats for dessert. As always, Joe (server) was friendly and welcoming.

Outstanding food. Opted for ala carte instead of tasting because not everyone at the table was able to participate. I prefer the tasting menu but everything was still delicious. The chef is not only talented, but he also is very accommodating. Be sure to try his breakfast/brunch restaurant, Ciro Forty Acres -- fantastic!

If you are going to use a Hemingway quote as your main décor centerpiece, at least spell his name correctly. Not impressed and will not return. Restaurant has an identity problem, sports playing on large TVs, an open kitchen but nothing cooked on the stove, chandeliers hanging from drop ceilings, overall cramped and non-descript feel to the place. Fine dining, gastropub, tapas? Really hard to pin this one. Food was lackluster at best. Tasteless and seemingly warmed up in a microwave. No ambiance, the place was empty on a Saturday night and that should have been the first warning. Wait staff was prompt but dressed very casual for an "upscale" dining experience. Yes, appearances matter. Hard to believe this place is still in business. Wilmington is a not a food mecca by any means but there are numerous better choices to take your date or spend your hard earned cash. This place needs a makeover or just lose the shared wall and expand the wine store.

We got the chefs table tasting menu. The food was not very good, but you do get a good amount. We enjoyed 3/8 dishes, but didn't love any. 3 were ok, and 2 were flat out bad. Service was good. There was a dog barking in the room over, which is not something I'd expect when paying 89 dollars per meal, not including drinks or tip. I personally wouldn't recommend.

Another wonderful dinner at Ciro! We had the Feast of Seven Fishes with wine pairings. All the courses were delicious, but I could have licked the bowl with the Clam Casino Risotto (with a divine Prosecco) and the Branzino with roasted fennel was exceptional!

I've had the pleasure of dining at Ciro multiple times over the past 3 years and am never disappointed. Last night we attended the 7 fishes dinner with our adult children and their significant others. It was perfect!!!!

We should have known when we were the only people in the restaurant. I had the pescatarian chef's tasting menu. 1. Tuna was bad & avocado was well past its prime 2. Roasted carrots were tasteless 3. Fish was served in a delicious broth! 4. Fresh figs were nice. My partner had 1. Artichokes which he enjoyed 2. Pork porterhouse was huge & just ok, served with good potatoes & tasteless mushrooms. Nothing was really fresh. Everything tasted like leftovers. By midnight I was in the bathroom getting sick. That continued until 8AM. I'm guessing it was the bad tuna. The idea of the restaurant & menu were pleasing. Execution anything but.

We entered ciro with very high hopes. As in, we sat down, were greeted by the owner, and I said, "I really feel like this will become one of our places." I say this to preface that we really loved the concept and presentation of the restaurant publicly, and this review is meant to be entirely constructive.Ultimately, what we experienced was a restaurant that seems caught between wanting to be a high end dining experience, certainly the price of one, and an ambiance and meal that was more in line with a local gastropub, and one that needs to work on its menu at that.We had the five course vegetarian tasting and supplemented with the shrimp. The food itself was lackluster, none of the ingredients were transformed by the cooking approach or combinations. Each dish was essentially the ingredients thrown together on a plate, only sometimes presented well. The chef seemed to be standing around staring at diners the whole time, so I assume everything is pre-made. We also were very suspicious the shrimp must have been frozen from a bag. If not, I'd get in touch with the "farm to table" supplier immediately if I were the owner, as I've never seen fresh shrimp so small and sad looking. The cocktails lacked any particular appeal, and the wine we wanted was not available. The ambiance of the restaurant is a run down dive bar with the accessories of a fine dining experience. Half the bulbs in the chandelier lights are out, there are boxes and cobwebs everywhere, and the staff is dressed as if they are going to a pajama party. There is actually a kayak in storage in the bathroom?? I am all about laid back and dive bar type places, but for the presentation they're going for, this was all way out of step with the branding they've chosen.Overall, Ciro seems to have too lofty of ambitions for what they are able to deliver. If I were the owner, I would revisit the branding and consider becoming a local gastropub. Ditch the tasting menus, and narrow your focus in the main dishes, to try to do something really special on a few things, rather than disappointing on all things. We need more fun and tasty places to go in wilmington, sadly Ciro failed to impress but shows potential if they're willing to adapt to the reality of what they're able to offer.

The first time visiting and as a table of four we had the four course tasting menu. The dishes were delicious and unusual. Certainly upscale in selection, preparation and plating. We will be returning.

Can’t say enough about how good the food and service is here. Small place, with high gh quality and creative dishes. Would recommend getting a 6 course and enjoy the art that comes out on your plate. One of the better places in Delaware and worth your time and money.

Underwhelmed by our experience. Similar to their brunch location in 40 Acres, so much potential here but it just misses the mark at this price point. We did the 5 course, the restaurant's single server was nice but overworked having to serve and bus the entire restaurant. Love their farm to table commitment, but the dishes were rather bland, tomato heavy, and the swordfish was over cooked and rubbery. We ordered pescatarian, which is an option they advertise, yet they added prosciutto to one of the dishes. When confronted they simply said to just pull it off. Glad we gave Ciro a shot, but I don't think we'll be going back. There are other options is the city with a more refined experience in the 50-75pp price range.

This was my first visit to Ciro for dinner. The entire dining experience was simply exceptional.Venu, the owner, was gracious and very friendly -- he stopped at our table, answering our questions about the cocktails and the menu.He exuded a passion for his restaurant, the partnership with local farms and the unique food offerings. The ravioli stuffed with goat cheese and pistachio in a silky broth alongside gnocchi and topped with basil was a divine treat. The fig puree sitting underneath striped fig halves and a creamy cheese ball topped with prosciutto showcased beautifully the sweet and salty complement. The bronzino was steamy and tender and took on the luscious sweet tang of the warm "late autumn" tomato and garbanzo compote.DO NOT miss dining at this incredible restaurant that offers the experience of notable food pairings. The unique and innovative combination of ingredients by Chef, the relaxing and embracing ambience and outstanding service made for a meal that tingled my tastebuds and left me desiring another meal in short order.Cheryl C.
