Great Big Jerk Wilmington

Absolutely love this place! The ribs are always tender and the brisket has the perfect meat-to-fat ratio. Their crispy Brussels sprouts and sweet potato fries are our go-to sides. This is always our first choice when family's in town!

After taste testing the brisket I found it to be extremely over salted.In speaking with the staff on a better choice I opted for fish tacos. The fish was even more salty and way over cooked till black. The fish was dried completely dried out having no flavor of fish over the salt. The fried artichoke was so salty I threw it in the trash. The music was so loud, even if the food was satisfactory there's no way of enjoying a meal over blasting music. My self , my friends and family will not be back. There go's a total waste of money and food in the trash. Flying insects all over the dinning area. I left hungry.

I was very disappointed. Wasn’t what I expected. I ordered the bbq 1/2 brisket with French fries and coleslaw., and it wasn’t worth the price.
The brisket was tender but too salty and I had to put my own bbq sauce on it. The coleslaw wasn’t coleslaw..at all! Coleslaw has CARROTS and I don’t know what was that in mine. Either tomatoes or red peppers. It was HORRIBLE! The French fries was good! I will try again, but something DIFFERENT next time and see how that goes, fingers crossed!
The picture on the left is what I purchased and is supposed to be COLESLAW! The picture on the right IS coleslaw and I had to go to the market to get it after not being satisfied with my purchase.

Brussell Sprouts were incredible. Some of the best I’ve ever had. Jerk chicken was incredibly moist and tender and so flavorful. Looking forward to trying other items.

As a lifelong Delawarean, I can say this place is a hidden gem. The staff is so lovely, and it's very convenient for a quick dinner after the YMCA. The Bang Bang friend chicken is nuts, the pulled pork is excellent, and they might have hands down the best sweet potato fries ever. Go for the weekday deals; they have crazy specials, some of the best in the city for sure. 10/10

This place was amazing. I had the Jerk Chicken Cheesesteak. When we asked the hostess what was recommended, she said this dish and I said you had me at hello… let me get fries with that!!

The best lunch spot to eat in Wilmingtonso far. I went to the Great Jerk with a couple friends and had the best experience great music and atmosphere. I had the fish and chips but my friends had the jerk cheesesteak and they were both very delicious.

Wow the crabcake sandwich??? I got it without tomatoes and it still is so so good. As a girl from Maryland i appreciate a good crab cake without a bunch of filling. 10/10 no notes will be returning in the near future.

The delicious brisket, pulled chicken, and mac n cheese are our favorites! Friendly, fast service and employees are helpful giving their input if you have questions about anything. Our order was to-go, but the restaurant area is really so nice and spotless! Parking is easy on the side of the building. Based on other reviews, will try the Brussels sprouts the next time I go…grandson loved everything so will definitely go again!

If you find yourself in the Wilmington, DE area, check out Great Big Jerk! One of the things I’ve loved about my job the last 21 years is being able to support local businesses. I feed accounts constantly, and I always try to choose independently owned restaurants over big chains. I hit the jackpot today when my account asked if I’d be willing to pick the food up (I usually have it delivered due to time constraints, traffic, etc)? I begrudgingly said yes. When they told me the name of the restaurant they chose I giggled and was elated when I looked at the menu this morning! SO many yummy choices! I’m a BBQ gal and the food was AMAZING! I ordered the brisket sandwich, coconut rice & hush puppies. The brisket was spiced to perfection and there was enough meat to last me 3 meals. What was even better, was having the owner herself carry out my huge order to my car, and to find out that they previously had a grant (that was taken away ?) to provide hundreds of meals per day for the homeless. This, my friends, is exactly the kind of business I love to give my (company’s) money to! I can’t wait to go back to try more things from their menu. Thank you, Mary and staff, for your excellent customer service AND food today! I’ll be back for that banana pudding! ?

I should have read the reviews about it not being authentic jerk. That was disappointing because although it doesn’t say Jamaican restaurant the name, some of the menu items and the Bob Marley pic gave me another impression. I was still open to just enjoying a good meal but that was not the case for me.

The food was cold and the chicken was extremely dry. It not being a Jamaican restaurant was a little disappointing but the food taste and quality was the true let down.

Pros: The sweet tea was ok and the kid behind the counter was nice.

Food is ok nothing special, 1st time trying super long wait, food was cold my tacos were disrespectful the tortillas were literally taking out the bag with out getting heated n on to the box , the pictures on the menu were nothing to what I received, the staff was very kind but the food n chefs on the back really disappointed our 1st experience, I don't think I will ever come back.... total waste of my time n $$
