I was thinking mission BBQ taste . As a chef myself. I had it once before and it was delicious now I can't say I'll ever come back .
I was very disappointed in the portion size and flavor of the brisket and grits. Unfortunately I can't recommend this place as much as I wanted to.
Whoa, as a African American. I walked in the door and the entire staff looked at me like they did Eddie Murphy in 48hrs. Never ever again. Good luck though.
So disappointed!
After searching for a BBQ place on my trip I decided to try this place out. The first thing I should have noticed was that outside and in it didn't smell anything like BBQ. I was in on a Friday midday and it was empty.
I ordered the smoked lamb sandwich, pasta salad, and 5 cheese mac and cheese. The smoked lamb was dry and lacking flavor. There was no smoke ring or anything to it. The sandwich was put together horrible. There was a tiny ball of meat right in the center. It reminded me of a grab n go pre packed sandwich where you see something between two pieces of bread and then open it and that's all there was.
The 5 cheese mac and cheese was so bland I wasn't sure it had more than 1 cheese let alone 5. There was absolutely no ham, and the fried onions were like little pebbles, so hard it hurt to try and chew. The pasta salad wasn't any better. The sauce on the pasta salad was grainy and blah. The pickle ... I won't even talk about the pickle. You can see it for yourself in the picture.
Service: It took a while for the individual to come back and take my order. The time for the food to come out was average but after the food was dropped off I never saw him again. I had an empty glass at the corner of the table 3 quarters of the time I was sitting there. I finished my food and looked around and couldn't see anyone. I sat there close to 10 minutes waiting until I walked to the back to ask for the check and some boxes.
Disappointed in every aspect of the visit. I do not recommend this place.
After recently seeing a rerun of DDD I decided to take a drive and give this place a try. Was confused that most of the reviews are almost 6 years old. After arriving I was surprised to see that “Locale BBQ Post” has been rebranded to “The Post” and now has a separate google page. Although it is still BBQ and pickle focused the new restaurant is a bit more upscale. The menu is definitely at a higher price point but not at all overpriced. I am happy to say it was a pleasant surprise. Newly renovated space was gorgeous. Service was great and the food was incredible. To anyone who is thinking about trying don’t expect what you see on this google page I would suggest looking up “The Post”. Despite the surprise (and confusion) I would highly recommend.
I just called to put in an order for ribs..person who answers says they don't have any.call 2 days ahead and we will order some? like wth? place is so hit or miss.
Not crazy about any of the sauces.
Chicken seemed boiled.
Portions were "extremely" small
Great food, nice atmosphere, friendly staff!!
Locale BBQ Post did an outstanding job catering for my Dad’s birthday party this past weekend. Everyone LOVED the food, and there was plenty left over, despite us refilling the containers repeatedly. All of the meats (brisket, pulled pork, and chicken) and sauces were fantastic (extra compliments were given for “The Sauce” and the bbq sauce) and the yams and baked beans were delicious. We also enjoyed the potato salad and pickles. I really appreciate the communication also, even when I increased the amount of food being ordered within the week of the party.

LACK OF FLAVOR! I had the brisket and chicken and both were super dry, even the sauce couldn't save it. I don't understand how brisket or chicken stay dry if they've been drowned in sauce. The collard greens tasted like they'd been cooked in a vinegar based barbecue sauce and even that didn't help provide flavor. Everything just seemed dreadfully under-seasoned and the meat had a pull to it when chewed...almost as if it'd been sitting under a heat lamp for quite some time. Won't be coming back here for BBQ.
The beef brisket sandwich with the "hot" sauce was great. Pulled pork is another good sandwich here. I used to be disappointed in the mac & cheese but the last 2 times it has been much better. Also, got their brisket breakfast sandwich one morning and like that. This place has been steadily improving in my opinion. Each visit the food improves.
The Locale BBQ is a great place to go get some good BBQ Food and The people are very friendly and place is very clean and it's is easy to get to get great food. Everything I tried is good and I recommend everybody to go there. ???????????????
My first choice for a great brisket sandwich on a perfectly toast bun at lunch time! Super friendly staff and a welcoming little spot in Trolley Square... ?
