A slightly upscale and unique spin on a smokehouse restaurant. Outdoor sidewalk and rear. Eggplant and other options for vegetarians. Average decor, but pleasant.

I have visited The Post in Trolley Square on two separate occasions, hoping for an improved experience the second time. Unfortunately, the most recent visit confirmed that this establishment prioritizes ambiance over food quality and service standards.

During a Saturday business lunch, I ordered an espresso martini, only to be told that the bar was out of Baileys — a basic ingredient. For a restaurant that markets itself as a polished, modern eatery, this was the first red flag.

We began with the burnt ends appetizer, which was entirely unseasoned. My guest selected the brisket sandwich, which was equally lacking in flavor. I opted for the southern chicken sandwich, but upon arrival, it had an unpleasant odor. When I raised the issue, the server discreetly acknowledged that the chicken may have been spoiled. I replaced the entrée with a salad, which was passable at best, and left most of it untouched.

While the interior is visually appealing and well-designed, the food is consistently underwhelming — and in this case, potentially unsafe. After giving this restaurant two chances, I cannot in good faith recommend it, nor do I plan to return.

We were driving from New York to Virginia and pulled over for lunch and stopped at The Post. Good service, good food at what like a good local restaurant.

The service was slow, and there was very little meat on the brisket sandwich. I was disappointed and will not return. All I could taste was bread.

This place is great. The atmosphere and ambience is perfect and the service is amazing. Love the different options they have on the menu. The chef is the best

We went here for our anniversary dinner and the food and service were phenomenal. Hands down best shrimp & grits and collard greens I’ve ever had - I’d say it beats some of the best spots I’ve been to in the south! Our entrees were incredible and we genuinely had a fantastic time. Can’t wait to go back and try more on the menu.

Walking into this Trolley Square gem feels like a warm embrace! From the moment we stepped inside, the welcoming presence of Jacquline, our host, guided us to a comfortable table tucked away in the back. Her genuine friendliness set the perfect tone. Shortly after, the delightful Katie became our server, her pleasant demeanor immediately putting us at ease and smoothly starting our culinary journey. The menu boasted a tempting array of options, and we eagerly chose the kale Caesar, cornbread, and brisket mac and cheese to begin. Oh my goodness – each starter was an absolute revelation! For our main courses, my wife savored the delicate lamb gnocchi, while I thoroughly enjoyed the perfectly cooked salmon. Neither dish disappointed; they were both executed flawlessly. A thoughtful touch was Katie finding me a delicious non-alcoholic beer, a real treat since I don't drink. To conclude our exceptional meal, we shared a lemon pound cake that was simply divine. Without a doubt, I wholeheartedly recommend a visit to this wonderful spot in Trolley Square. Everything, from the ambiance to the exquisite food and the extraordinary service, was truly on point.

Came for an early dinner. Ordered the lamb sandwich to go. I was served a wet floppy bread sandwich with a smidge of beef in the center, uncooked red peppers, and a mound of mayo. Honestly was the worst presentation and effort I’ve ever seen a restaurant put out. This was the first time I’ve ever felt the need to send food back, and I didn’t want anything but a refund.

Great food, friendly staff, cute place for brunch and perfect for a date night, for dinner. The location is also perfect, right next to other restaurants, stores, and shops.
My husband and I tried the ricotta toast and smoked meatballs and they were excellent. Not too heavy. Recommended 10/10

A perfect ambiance for date night, the food was 💯 (brisket entree, short rib, queso blanco, and Brussels), omg our bellies were happy and it was just such a laidback, friendly vibe all around

We were excited about this place because we live in the area and the menu looked great!
BBQ food was amazing! One of the better burgers in Wilmington and loved the smoked lamb sandwich.
Cocktails left much to be desired. Took awhile and had bad flavor and need some adjustment. Maybe some ingredients were missing? Egg white drink had no foam and might have been missing citrus. Stick to wine and beer while they get it established.
Corn bread was underbaked, which was disappointing! Highly recommend the fries though (they had great seasoning!)
It has the potential to be a great dinner spot and date night/girls night location, just need to work out some details.
