Shame on us! We have known about Toscana for years and never tried it. This was our first visit and the experience was great. It was the perfect dining experience to celebrate my wife's 72nd birthday. We'll be back soon!!
Birthday dinner party of 8 people. New menu features a number of interesting dishes. The appetizers were excellent as were the entrees. The evening was definitely enhanced by friendly and efficient service of Rachel and the whole staff.
Rachel was absolutely wonderful on a very busy night. She was attentive and cheerful. It was the first night of the new menu. The kitchen did well executing, but the bar fell behind. Appetizers were served and almost finished before cocktails were served.Thr arancini and grilled avocado were both delicious. The shrimp and scallops were good, but the tomato sauce was a little heavy. And through it all, Rachel maintained her smile, making it another enjoyable experience. Will definitely be back!
Went during restaurant week. The arancini balls with Gorgonzola sauce and a dash of fig jam were fabulous. The pork belly entree was delightful- not sure about texture of tomato risotto but overall very good. Tiramisu was light and airy.
We've never had a bad experience at Piccolina Toscana so it was a natural choice to go during Restaurant Week. We were seated promptly and our server, Rachel was friendly and attentive. For the first course, I enjoyed the heirloom tomatoes and my partner had the mussels, which would have been much easier to eat if a seafood fork was provided. For the second course, I had the seafood ravioli. I believe they used asiago cheese, which didn't allow for the seafood flavor to come through. My partner had pork scallopine. We both enjoyed our choices but agreed they were on the edge of being too salty. For the third course, we each selected tiramisu. It was a light, perfect ending to a delightful meal. We look forward to our next visit.
Exquisite Menu for restaurant week. Peach salad, tomatoes w/kamalata, shrimp/lobster ravioli and steak frites with polenta twist on fries with broccoli Rabe. Everything prepared with great distinction & care for the discerning palate. Also, the cuisine stands above & apart from many “fine dining” as HEALTHY. You are not loaded with salt or swollen the next day.
This was a nice experience overall. The food was tasty. Some plates had quite a bit of sauce which is unusual in Italy, but had very good tortellini filled with squash. We will return to try different plates, to get a better idea. A little lighter fare would be nice, Mediterranean-style, perhaps grilled vegetables..... The place is lovely with an outdoor patio and the staff is very nice. Grazie!
We had great service (Rachel) and food! The Old Fashioned and Manhattan were well made and the dried orange and caramelized rock sugar on a stick were nice touches for the Old Fashioned. Clean and tasty salads to begin and then two pasta dishes. One was a special, a riff on bucatini carbonara with crisp pork belly, charred tomatoes (garnish), and peas. The other pasta dish was equally good, Mezze Rigate Alla Brasata. Large portions enough that we brought home half of each dish.
Great location in Trolley Square area of Wilmington. Food was very good and fairly good selection which will satisfy most groups of various tastes. Service was a bit slower than expected, but not bad. Overall excellent, and will plan to go back again in the future!
We've been to Piccolina Toscana many times. Last night's experience was a little lackluster. We sat outside where the music was quite loud. As there were very few people seated outside, we asked for the music to be turned down- if anything, the music was turned up. The service was spotty: we had to ask for old dishes to be removed, and we waited 15 mins to get our credit cards/final bill returned-even though the restaurant was nearly empty. The appetizer was very good and well-presented, as was one entree (the hanger steak). However, the seafood risotto was quite soupy and bland. As our past experiences have been perfect, last night was a mild disappointment.

Piccolos Toscana is wonderful. The staff greeted us quickly, delivered our appetizers and drinks in the bar and brought our dinner requests in a very reasonable time. The food was delicious. Who knew hummus and grilled avacodo could be so good? Even two in our group do not normally like avocado loved the grilled avocado appetizer. We all finished every bit of our entrees. They were just the right size, and too good to leave even a little bit. Piccolo Toscana always delivers a wonderful evening.
Food quality is consistently very good. Menu choices seem to cater to everyone's tastes and the prices are quite reasonable. Jessie, our server was very attentive and congenial. I visit here regularly and would highly recommend their restaurant.
We usually enjoy Toscana but tonight it was off. The music was weird and the food in 3 main dishes was pretty bland. The party of 4 was pretty disappointed. The gelato and drinks were. Very good though
Probably the worst dinner experience in recent memory. The bar area was hot, smelly and dirty. Service was slow due to “being swamped” although the entire restaurant was not crowded. Dinner took an hour and came out cold. They comped us although it wasn't requested by us. Nothing good to say about this place. Waste of a good Saturday night.
Two wait staff for a full restaurant means poor service. Not the wait staff's fault but it's the customers who suffer. We've eaten here before and had a nice meal but this time the food was only so-so with identical dishes (3 people ordered the same meal) coming out different from each other in both portion size and food content, which was very odd. Not a great night at this restaurant but since we've had good meals there in the past, we'll chalk this up to an off night.
