do not recommend anyone try this "food"

Great food, friendly, inclusive vibe, neighborhood “go to”.

The are always so Nice and the food is excellent

I own a sports podcast network that deals with nhl, ahl and echl hockey leagues and threw a cancer benefit at this location after doing a promotional sponsorship with the brand for months.

The cancer benefit was an absolute success due to my team getting donations from our network sponsors and teams we're credentialed with in the nhl, ahl and echl for raffle items we raffled off during our event. The staff knocked it out of the park even being understaffed, 2 employees was definitely a challenge to keep up with the amount of business we brought in. According to the employees, it was the most people ever to attend a night at the location.

We never saw the total amount of revenue, based of John's attitude, he wouldn't let that number be public knowledge. We knew we did well over what we even thought we could do and when we added up how much things cost, that total was in the thousands.

The signs inside said the beer was $4 a piece but when you checked your account, you were charged $5. So just one example, they had to restock beer a couple times after warming him they amount of people were coming and that he would get more if needed, which they did do.

The main issue is after making the amount of money we know we made HIM, he donated a whopping $150 to the cancer benefit which is a huge slap in the face. He easily made $3000 that night if not more and wanted to donate $50 and only switch to $159 after I pushed him to.

Great food, great location, great bands. But you absolutely took advantage and money away from cancer benefit and thats disgusting. I wasn't going to even leave this review until I saw John thanking everyone for some kind of community outreach project and couldn't hold my tongue any longer! You should be ashamed of yourself John Berl and I should've listen to the rest of the businesses in the area that wouldn't do business with us because we we're doing business with you.

I had dinner from Uncle John’s tonight and felt spiritually moved to write this review. You may look at this menu and think .. you don’t want the pulled pork grilled cheese. You think, “Eh, I’ll get something else.” Don’t. You do want this grilled cheese. You need this grilled cheese. It’s smoky, cheesy perfection that will make you reconsider your relationship with every other sandwich in town

This place is great! Went over the weekend and there was live music too! The outside seating area has a great vibe! I got the brisket cheesesteak and it was delicious! Service was fast and food was hot! I will definitely be going back!

Uncle John’s a definitely one of the best BBQ places in the area. Huge variety of foods. Great indoor and outdoor space and live music regularly. Extremely inclusive atmosphere. Uncle John is constantly working hard on making more and more food, it’s very evident and he can be seen out front with the grill/smoker often. I highly recommend giving this place a try.

Highly recommend: Uncle John’s has consistently good bbq at great prices. We eat here often and have brought their BBQ as our contribution to parties - always a hit and I don’t have to cook! Because of my work schedule, I’ve only been able to see a live band play here once and that was great but even their playlists have been fun, positive and upbeat. The staff is friendly, the building a fun upgrade on a nostalgic piece of Claymont history, and the flowers available in the spring are unique and a great bargain - I found black petunias here! Uncle John’s BBQ truly is A GEM for our area!

Sometimes i give 5 stars on food, seevice and atmosphere simply because of one aspect that blew me away and gave me reason to want to give an overall 5 star review. This was not the case at Uncle John's BBQ Stand.

Food - We went on a Saturday night and Unc was out on his own self-fabricated BBQ grill where meat, veggies and fruits were slow roasting to perfection. A side fire-box ensured only primed embers fuled the cook. Fresh local peaches were the special of the day with ice cream and brown sugar. All were on point.

Service - The staff were very friendly and approachable and John offered up worldly conversation and samples from the grill while we waited for our food.

Atmosphere - We also liked the live music and open air setting. As we chatted with John a satisfied regular approached and happily gave us his endorsement after learning it was our first visit.

Overall, couldn't have been happier with our stop and i hope this comes across as good of a review as was the experience.

We visited today and had an outstanding experience. The pulled pork and brisket were both juicy and absolutely delicious. The owner, John, was incredibly friendly and welcoming. This place is definitely worth a stop. Highly recommended!

The young lady Kayla was amazing! Very personable. Environment inviting- we were looking forward to our food. Then I witnessed the owner in front of patrons talk q her demeaning and as if she’s not a person . The we got our food and got home with it- the food literally stank ! I ordered the steak and requested double portions of crab! It stank! So was it bad or spoiled . The steak - requested well done- it was pink. I pretty much trashed my whole meal besides the brussel sprouts that could have cooked longer. Don’t do it.

Went there for the first time Ordered a brisket wrap it was meat and lettuce. No cheese or sauce was very dry and had no flavor.
The place was loaded with flies
Very disappointed would not go back
