The location in claymont the service was awesome! The women who greeted me, waited on me and was very informative about giving a little history of the store and it’s owner. The chicken was good, I’m from Philly so this was the closest to having good chain store fried chicken.

The fish was stale.The rice and mashed potatoes literally had plastic odor and taste in it.The potions were too small but I guess that was the only good thing because of its horrible taste large portions would have been such a wasteIf I could give no stars or -5, would give that

LOVE this local chicken joint! Beats the heck out of the major chain chicken places to be sure! Owner is wonderful to talk to and makes some killer chicken!Delicious side dishes as well. Sweet baked beans for the sweet tooth! Corn is delicious as well as the corn bread.No frills, walk in and pop your order and thank me on the way down to your appreciative stomach!

I had a bad experience here, today. I love soul food and I patronize many places in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware; so, I've been around when it comes to this. I found that the portions, here, are a bit smaller than what you would expect for the price. Hence, the reason I spent $70 on two people to get the weight up. The fish, though thin, was good. I, also, enjoyed the mac n cheese.......even though it was in meager increments. The fried wings were wayyyyyy too salty. The rice was overcooked and mushy. The red beans were tastless. I will not be going back there, for $70 my wife and I should be happy. There are other soul food restaurants (dine in and take out) where I'd much rather spend my hard earned money. My heart is heavy at this time to write regarding the experience I encountered this evening at a childhood establishment that I have enjoyed since the age of 10yrs-old. My wife and I arrived at Walts via Claymont, DE, location and placed an order for two-breast sandwiches, fire, mac & cheese, and collard greens. We came home and discovered: (1.) Fire was not included. (2.) Breast sandwiches that at first site I believe were small in size, but after taking a bite, I discovered breast sandwiches appeared to have been tampered with. I immediately returned the order in fear of eating food that had the look of a questionable appearance. I addressed my concern to the cashier about what occurred and was informed: “The cook deboned your breast sandwich.” The cashier explained, “This was done per the customer's requests, and tonight was an accident due to not informing the cook to not engage in the method for every customer.” I explained to the cashier the concern of not informing the customer of such practices in which food appears to be eaten. Although the cashier was aware of my anxiety, a male with dreadlocks, told me he worked at the location for 20yrs and that he would never serve tampered food. He appeared not concerned about my viewpoint of how this accident caused me to panic due to the severity of possible health risks. I explained: “You guys have sent me into a panic mode tonight due to your practice, and it would be best to inform the customer while the order is received.” Let's just say the male with the dreadlocks demeanor is the reason my heart is heavy tonight because my years of enjoying this childhood brand as a youth have come to an end due to the inconsiderate behavior of this male. My My heart is hefty right now. I am lost for words.
The fried chicken was delicious. Juicy and flavorful without being greasy and the skin was crispy with just the right amount of salt. My boyfriend loved the collard greens and cole slaw. We will definitely be back ☝?

It was my first time there so now I regret not ordering more food. I can't wait to be back in the area to get a bigger order. This was my first time coming here to get food & the lady was nice enough to give use free samples of some sides & some dessert. The chicken tasted very good with the sauces for a affordable price. I will definitely order from here again!
