Whoever owns the pier / pier land / pier rights needs to sell. Let some serious people put in a clean establishment with respectable food.

The water was beautiful, but there is no pier. The hurricane took it, and they haven't rebuilt it. The town was destroyed. If you want to just sit on the beach, awesome place. Let's go somewhere else in the area other than the island to eat. It's super expensive and just not very good food. Tried two different places and walked away from a plate of food. I know that sounds bad, but when this grouper smells like pneumonia run that usually means it's spoiled. You would think because they're special and the name add grouper in it that would be good food

We loved the food, the service, the setting right on the water. We felt really sad :( when the hurricane hit and destroyed the restaurant and then a second hurricane destroyed the pier. Hopefully they will be able to open again

This was my absolute favorite restaurant. Stupid Helene and Milton took it down. Privileged to have enjoyed their hospitality when I could. Wish they'd build again. I miss you Rod and Reel 😥

***October 2024 update to original review *** Hurricane Milton has erased Rod & Reel Pier from existence. What an asshole.
Review before Milton: Such a great throwback to old school Florida & a blessing to be spared by Ian.
This place looks like a shanty, and I don’t think it would’ve taken much of Ian to completely erase it from the face of the Earth.
Grouper sandwich has gotten very expensive ($27) but the overall atmosphere and friendly staff more than make up for it
