The Donut Experiment is a unique must-visit on Anna Maria Island, Florida. It's become a cherished family tradition during our winter stays—we always bring the kids, grandkids, and friends.
You custom-build your donuts (choose base, icing, toppings, drizzles) and watch them made fresh on the spot. Nothing beats that freshness!
This year, my daughter ordered online with her credit card for speed, but I wanted to use a gift card. Manager Charity kindly offered to take the gift card and credit the card later, but needed more info to complete it. A week later, when I returned with more grandkids, she promptly refunded the charge in cash—no hassle.

Wonderful customer service and delicious doughnuts!
I had a unique experience with Doughnut Experiment. I planned a gender reveal for a friend who was vacationing in the north end of Anna Maria Island. On a whim I reached out to see if I could do the gender reveal with doughnuts. I could not have been more pleased and excited to work with Charity (the owner) on this order. She was so responsive and helpful to make this surprise a success!
Highly recommend for their doughnuts and their amazing customer service! Or if you want to plan a fun gender reveal!

Visited during peak season around 9:30am on a weekday. It was not crowded, rather had a steady flow of patrons coming in and going. They are very quick at welcoming you in and helping you with your order. The donuts tasted yummy and were to our specifications which made it all the more fun. I have kids and they enjoyed watching them make their donuts right there in front of them. It was $2 for a donut, so a little pricier than premade store bought one. The environment was simple and had a great island vibe with space for when it gets busier. Their little shop had cute items for purchase. We sat at their seating outside and it was an enjoyable experience. My kids want to go back.

We ordered one doughnut with glaze, cinnamon and sugar and another with just cinnamon and sugar. While I was getting coffee (which was basically cold) they bagged up our doughnuts and said “hope you don’t mind, the cinnamon and sugar wouldn’t stick so we put powdered sugar” - okay? The doughnuts were cold - probably made hours earlier (no wonder the C&S didn’t stick) and both were loaded with only powdered sugar (I said twice, I did not want powdered sugar). We assumed we were getting a warm doughnut similar to Duck Donuts- not even close! Big mistake on both doughnuts and coffee!

This place is so good! The establishment is clean, and the donuts are fresh. Since it’s a bit chilly today, I decided to try their hot chocolate, and it did not disappoint- delicious and served at just the right temperature. We asked one of the staff members, Henry, for a drink recommendation, and he suggested the coconut and peppermint latte. We’re so glad we took his advice - it was amazing! I’ve already recommended this spot to some locals we know and will definitely be back!

Amazing. Though the beaches were amazing this place is unique and our favorite part of our road trip to Anna Maria. Great quick service. Cute inside. Clean restroom. Completely customizable for all those on your trip and the Sriracha donut is FABULOUS!!!! Thanks for a memorable trip.
