I would rate this place 0 stars if I could. I was in the place for not 60 seconds before walking out. The bartender immediately asked for IDs from my boyfriend and myself, which is understandable because we both look young. As most of you probably know, because you have basic knowledge and are a lot smarter than the bartender here, Florida recently changed their IDs completely. I renewed my ID a week ago. She refused to serve me because she "has never seen an ID like this before." She then refused to serve my boyfriend because his was vertical, mind you it literally has the date printed in which he turns 21. Which is almost 3 years ago. Overall her tone was incredibly rude. We went to a bar down the street and the woman was sweet and told us her manager just won't let her take vertical IDs, but she was at least nice about it. The irony is that if my boyfriend were to update his ID, she still wouldn't serve him because she has no idea that Florida has changed the way they look. The staff here (or at least the blonde bartender) should really be educated on basic knowledge.

Local liquor bar. Can be fun on the weekends but the service is terrible during the week. Twice now I turned around and walked out without my first beer because the barmaid would not stop her gossiping after she acknowledged several times that I was waiting for service.

I am rating this place three stars. I live in a city. I have been in a city a long time. I used to go to places like this in my home town, but alas, I am a different person. I could rate it lower, and if you are citified consider that. It is a friendly place, but it is in a friendly but very country town. Astor Florida is a nice community just on the edge of the Ocala National forest off the St. John river. Everyone comes here for the things that end in the letter "N". Huntin, fishin, hikin, you get the idea. There are almost as many bears as people. In that forest there is a little bar, where my niece was going to, so I asked my Brother in Law to take me there. Its a nice little place, Everyone was friendly, they served my favorite beer, and it was cold. The atmosphere is very red in the neck. It is 100% gen-u-wine, from the memorabilia for NASCAR, the rebel flags and down to the deer heads on the wall. The karaoke machine has every song as long as its country or western. I take that back, there was a couple rock songs there. There is no book, you wander up to the DJ and tell him what song you want to sing. I bet Freebird or some Allman Bros is on there, but I didn't sing. I could not. Its smokey. Very smokey. It is oxygen mask smokey because everyone is smoking all the time. In Tampa the cigar bars don't get this smokey. It goes with the turf. Did I mention it is a smoke friendly place? So all in all, it you are out here its a great place to rub elbows with folks in Astor. If you smoke you will be fine.
