Everything was very good, but I was surprised to have been charged $10.00 for a side of plain, steamed broccoli...

I've found it very hard to find good Chinese food in So. Florida. Shaingai city is about the best I've found so far. It's clean with good service. The shredded beef szechuan style was excellent and just a touch spicy. Tender beef strips, a good mix of vegatables and a flavorful sauce. Egg roll was small and uninspiring but the spring roll was good. Both the hot & sour soup and wonton were very good. General Tso chicken was very good with all white meat, a light batter coating and an excellent sauce that was not overly sweet. (perfect for many people but if you like a heavy and crunchy batter with fattier dark meat this one may be too light.) orange beef looked good but didn't get a chance to try it.

Main food was good but the boiled rice seemed to be cooked at the previous day.

It was a short wait so I thought it was gonna be a great dinner. Staff was nice and food got there relatively quickly but when I unwrapped the utensils they were dirty. That's not too bad because I just rinsed them with my water and cleaned them off and wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. Once the food came, things were okay but I ended up finding a literal cockroach leg in my food and had to leave. Threw up immediately after and regret this dinner choice. Please for your own health don't go here.

Just not a good experience. Indifferent service and American style Chinese food. Maybe they are catering to their clientele but we had hoped for well cooked Shanghai food.

Last night early (cash only) dinner. My Orange Beef dish was fine. My companion's shrimp in black been sauce was in his words "one of the worst dishes he has had in a long time." Hence it is a bit hard to know how to rate the establishment. At best the food is okay/ordinary (3 stars). Fortunately for the restaurant, their only real competition in the area for a dine-in Chinese venue is P.F. Chang's.

Friends raved about Shanghai City and we have been looking for a good Chinese restaurant. Unfortunately this isn't it. Just another average Chinese restaurant that is extremely busy. Started with Wonton Soup, decent made with beef broth, then an Egg Roll, just fair. For mains, my wife loves Chicken With Eggplant , with bell peppers and scallions. She has had better. I opted for the Szechuan Shrimp , hot and spicy with both red & green peppers, onions, water chestnuts, and snow peas. I love spicy but this was over the top. One and done.

Surprisingly good traditional Cantonese cuisine. Flounder with ginger and scallion, my shu pork are both recommended

Went to early dinner on NYE with 5 others. Food was extremely bland and pricey. No accompaniments with main course. Upon payment was told I didn't give amount due and tried explaining I gave certain amount and awaiting change. Rather than making a scene, I paid more than what I told her I gave. Needless to say I or others in my group will not go here.

We were reluctant to try this restaurant due to some negative reviews. We decided to try it tonight after friends recommended it and were pleasantly surprised. Food was delicious, service good, staff friendly. Nothing fancy just good Chinese food. Definitely going back.

You should update your hours on the site! Go here with my dad a lot and it is decent. I always seem to order the same thing, the shrimp and the lobster sauce they are noodles used to be better and they are one ton soup as well as eggrolls are pretty average.

Came by for dinner this evening on the recommendation of a neighbor. Was not disappointed. Crispy orange beef and chicken in black bean sauce were both quite good and tasty. Soups and eggrolls were also very good. We were there for the sunset menu which included the entrée, eggroll, as well as soup and dessert. Definitely going back and recommend.

Wonderful food, excellent service. Like a real, old fashioned New York Chinese restaurant.

The last of a dying breed. Traditional Chinese Old World style restaurant. Quality flavors, fresh ingredients and crispy noodles server with duck sauce and hot mustard when seated. The restaurant vibe harkens back to the traditional white linen covered table that your Mom & Dad took their parents to. To start: Traditional spare ribs that are delicious and a Sweet & Sour soup that is World Class! The Chinese pancake with a dipping sauce was delicious. If you're lucky , they won't be to busy because Old School only has two servers. Hot tea a must and a quality it will be. General Cho Chicken is delicious, just hope they remember to include the Szechuan pepper to give it a kick! Shrimp & Lobster sauce was alright, fresh yes, but missing the slight lobster flavor note that you crave. Our last visit we loved the Beef Chow Fun with its big flat rice noodles, big serving so a lot went home.. Tonight's visit, The General Cho is headed home with us. We'll return sometime, because it's a classic. Hope the tradition continues for another generation.
