My partner and I wanted to do a staycation in Bradenton. We simply wanted to do something simple but fun with our baby girl. We booked a room and made reservations for Michael John's restaurant. I had Googled 5 star restaurants, and this pulled up on the second on the list but had more reviews than the first on the list. We had a later reservation (past our baby's bedtime) because they were booked, but I did not want to miss the opportunity. Pulling up to the restaurant, it was well lit. It was actually not as spacious inside, which led me to know it is more of a private setting. The service was good. My mocktail was good, and the food was great. We will certainly come back another time.

I cannot recommend this place. This is not a $250+ quality dinner or service for 2 people. First, they didnt have my reservation, but at 5:30 no one was there. It says it's a "French-American..." and out of approx 100btls of wine, they had ONE french wine (approx$65); 90% california wines, several Italian?wines. 1 app, split a cesaer salad that tasted like mayonnaise, ribeye was disappointing but cooked right, beef tips were tender and cooked right but over all too salty dish, on top of a pile of mashed and veggies not really cooked properly on top. 2 servers and we had to ask for water refills, they poured first glass of wine only. 2 solid hours as other tables came and we waited for our main meal. Weirdly not upscale except in price. Was looking forward to it, my son just moved next door.

Loved this place! The waiters and waitresses were spot on..The food was superb, and the atmosphere was great. Only one small problem. It was our anniversary and my daughter called ahead and ordered and paid for a bottle of wine to be at the table when we arrived for a surprise. Well it was not there and we knew nothing about it until we were paying our bill. Although they ruined our daughters surprise they did make good on the bottle we had ordered! We will definitely be back. This is a wonderful restaurant

Absolutely amazing! From the food, to the service, to the atmosphere and beyond! My fiancé and I ate dinner here tonight and the food was spot on- perfectly served, prepared and taste was phenomenal! Highly recommend! Diamond in the rough!

We’ve been going here for over 10 years now, and this continues to be our favorite nearby restaurant. The duck is one of my favorite entrees, but everything on the menu is excellent. Their consistency and professional service never disappoints.

Drove about 30 minutes because we heard great things about the restaurant. Upon entry no one was at the front bar or the host stand to greet me. My party, another 2 people, were still about 10 minutes away. The table was ready, I decided to wait at the second bar and have a cocktail. The cocktail was made correctly. The menu did not have several selections for steaks, they had two or three different cuts and one on the specials menu. We enjoyed the Calamari The Dirty Caesar romaine lettuce was a bit brown and old, however honestly tasted great. I had my steak wrapped to go I had two bites and could not eat anymore, I don't think it was prime rated, more like select. I was surprised no one asked me if something was wrong. I rarely speak up. Front server rushed us and forget that we were having a salad course. We were able to inform him before it was too late because he brought steak knives instead of salad forks to the table. We ordered a bottle of wine and a wine key had to be "found". I would go back again. The rating was a bit high for the lack of service, maybe they were having a bad night.

We are locals and for some reason have never been to Michael John's before. Wow! We were missing an amazing dining experience!The service was stellar and refined, the drinks were hand crafted and unique, and the every dish was out of this world!The restaurant was clean and fresh and everyone we encountered was friendly and customer focused.We tried several appetizers, especially the baked brie was melt in your mouth delicious! I had the Le Cordon Bleu which was cooked to perfection and my husband had a beautiful Filet. The vegetable sides perfectly complimented the plate and were extremely fresh.For dessert we split a chocolate flourless cake that was so decadent and our friends enjoyed the creme brulee.We will absolutely be back again to explore the menu!
