The tone/way the owners answer negative reviews says a lot about their attitude toward their customers.

Last year, my wife (then fiancé) and I chose Ortygia for our rehearsal dinner. We had eaten there once and found out that the menu changes weekly or soat this restaurant; the chef gears the menu toward what he can buy fresh/in season at that time. We quite liked our food the first go-around, which are in pics 2-4, and we wanted to support a local business. So, we booked this place for our dinner after we finished our wedding rehearsal.

It was a perfect cool and crisp day for our rehearsal dinner, and everything from the food, wine, and dessert were perfect. The chef came out and asked us all if anything was wrong, even the sliiiiightest bit off. But the food was remarkable, and my friends and family quite enjoyed the quality, so no complaints. There was also no music blasting, making it easy to speak with everyone. We were already in a good mood considering the occasion. Nevertheless, I appreciate Ortygia being a part of making our wedding weekend just a bit more special.

Will return for the ambience and home-cooked food:
Farmer beef patty
Veal

Yummy Italian wines: Chianti and

The restaurant is homey, discreet, and hidden. It was the chef’s home that he converted 18 years ago. The outdoor section isn't open.

A big, heavy wine glass that reminds me of the humorous photo depicting ‘one glass of wine a day’ when the glass is so much bigger than the drinker.

Weak ac: I’m sweating toward the end. Ok, I think I’m rejuvenated for a few minutes to have the hot flash ... ha ha ha.
A small parking lot on site.

Great cozy place for delicious pastries, crepes, omlettes, quiches, and sandwiches. The service is outstanding as well! Also, don't miss their wine dinners!

The atmosphere is delightful, but the food we had was extremely ordinary. I could have made a better dinner myself. We both ordered the Timballo -- the dish made famous by the movie Big Night. It was a bunch of rigatoni, tasteless sauce, one small piece (and by that I mean 1/8 of a slice orprosciutto) and one tiny slice of meatmall --not even a half. Essentially, we paid for lousy rigatoni with tomato sauce, not the delightful dish we've had in other places. Will never return.

Situated in the Art District of Bradenton, this small intimate restaurant is big in flavor, presentation & service. We enjoyed having our anniversary dinner here after my wife tried it with friends. Chef/Owner Gaetano Cannata is personable and a great cook. They change their menu weekly. Very good wine selection. Highly recommend!

Chef Gaetano and Server Melissa were both friendly, hospitable, and knowledgeable. The food was amazing and authentic. Getting to hear the story of Monzu cuisine coupled with all of Chef's experiences in Sicily painted a beautiful picture on the dishes. The weekly changing menu is peak creativity and culinary expression. I am so glad I was able to try their food, and you should too!

The food was delicious and the chef’s attention to a food allergy was exceptional. The wait staff was attentive and the wine pours were generous. The little rooms allowed for a lovely home style setting.
We look forward to enjoying another dinner in the future.
