Service and atmosphere was nice. Food I felt it tasted like it was all frozen and they microwave it and brought it out to us.

It is miserably hot inside. Actually made me nauseas and was difficult to eat my meal. I couldn’t finish it. We bought two kids meals and two adult meals, no alcohol, and it was $100. We paid $100 to eat in a literal sauna. Food wasn’t bad. Waitress was fine. I felt bad that she had to work in those awful conditions. We told the hostess to seat us inside because it was too hot to eat outside. Big mistake. The excuse given for the heat was that there were a lot of people and the building is old. Lame excuse. In my opinion, for health and safety reasons, the restaurant should be closed down until the AC can be fixed. Squid Lips has a lot of potential. PLEASE either close or fix the AC. I guarantee it was close to 90 degrees inside.
Definately understaffed, the bartender was waiting on tables too. Food wasnt hot, room temp at best. Definately could have been better.

We’ve eaten here a few times over the years. Food was just OK at best. Service was ok, but we were a large group and the AC was out. We were seated with almost no breeze between any of the outdoor fans. Server really did the best she could, but it was pretty uncomfortable. The bar really was subpar. Anything above a beer from the tap was just not good. After a $400 tab, we went back to a different bar and grill for better drinks, food, service, and some desserts. Place is pretty family friendly.

Where do I start! I wish I could give this place 0 stars! This place is terrible. I am active duty military and on leave with my family (party if 12). We decided to stop in around 7 pm. The hostess was talking on the phone when we arrived. After finally deciding to seat us, we asked to sit outside instead of inside. She rudely stated, “I would appreciate it if you stand inside while I try to figure this out.” We asked for a manager on two separate occasions and on the third time one appeared. He too, was a rude. We decided to go elsewhere, and I would not recommend this place to anyone!
The place had a fishy odor and the bathrooms smelled terrible. You could smell them from 20 feet away! Disgusting.

Service was severely lacking. Food was good when it finally arrived. Conch Fritters were delicious. Nice waterfront view and fish feeders.

My mom was a server at the Lobster shanty from 1992 until it closed in 2015. While it was hard for them to care for such an old building, they still did. It’s sad to see how squid lips has allowed such an iconic location to fall in to such disrepair. The main lobby area smells like mold, the former downstairs bar is likely the culprit of that. The former “pelican room” is now an indoor/but also outdoor bar and dining area. The zipper windows make it hard to enjoy the great view of this location, as they are fuzzy. They should have left it well enough alone. Now, to the service. We had an excellent server, and was very accommodating. The food was fair, it’s silly a fish dip comes with delicate wrapped crackers instead of chips or pita bread. The crab cake burger was spectacular, though slightly overcooked. Overall a good dining experience, but the condition of the restaurant is unfortunate. I can’t imagine it’ll survive the next storm.

Overall, it was just not good. The hostess and waitstaff were nice, and the location/setting is pretty, but those are the only positives of the dining trip. Upon entering the restaurant, we were struck with a mildew, musty, and wet smell, along with it being really warm inside. The restaurant was almost empty (it was a Saturday at 5:30pm). The food was not any better, as the fried clams tasted freezer burnt and microwaved, the queso dip was melted Velveeta cheese, the buffalo chicken sandwich was fried chicken covered in regular, plain hot sauce, and the crab cakes were clearly microwaved. On top of this, the place is dirty and the restrooms were gross. We should have left as soon as we walked in.very disappointing experience.

Got the seafood mac and cheese, super bland. We also got the chips and queso and I swear it was just Tostitos queso dip slightly warmed up. Our poor waiter seemed frazzled, not super attentive because they seemed understaffed. Water was beautiful though!
