For my ✊? people, avoid. The first and only time I was acknowledged at this establishment was when I walked in and ordered with the cashier, who was a person of color. I spent an hour sitting in the back, was handed food, & ignored even when I would smile and speak.
I watched the servers gleefully interact with everyone else & also collected their plates when they were done. I sat for 20 minutes after I was finished eating & no one came for my plates. I walked out.
Yall know how it is. I won’t be too dramatic or drag this out. Ultímately, it is not a friendly place for us.
The food is cool, though. Order to go.

Service was very quick and food was delicious. This place is so cozy and the perfect spot to work or just chill with a cup of coffee. They also sell these amazing basque cheesecakes.

Disappointed by Nickel and Diming. We were eager to try this place and there were 3 of us for breakfast and each person ordered a full platter and coffees. You order and pay at the counter and the food is brought to your table. There must have been a miscommunication during ordering and instead of a latte, a regular coffee was ordered and paid for one of us. A simple mistake and easily corrected. At least you would think so when you mention it to the food runners (yes, there was more than one person it was mentioned to). The problem is they don't understand English very well. So after half-way through our breakfast, we mention it again and then one of us has to go up to request the latte. After almost finishing our meals, the latte finally comes. We assume it was going to be a wash on the price difference since the error was on their side and it took so long to get the latte. But as we are leaving, I am presented a bill for the latte. Fine, that's fair. But if I'm going to pay for the latte ($5.25), I want credit for the erroneous coffee ($2.95). So I talk to the original order taker who then has to explain it to the manager. She actually asked if we drank the regular coffee (as if you could serve it to someone else), to which I said no. So I went ahead and paid the difference of $2.30+tax. Again, paying is not the issue. But here's the thing, we just dropped $70+tip on breakfast for 3 people. Most places would have said "don't worry about it" because the reality is that $2.30+tax isn't worth the time or trouble to ring it up. And did I mention we spent $70+tip on breakfast? The only reason it gets 2 stars is because the food was decent for Coral Gables prices. But moving forward, don't expect us or anyone we know to patronize this place that will Nickel and Dime you. You should teach your staff and managers to love your customers better. Bad form, Cafe Demetrio!

So this was a hidden little gem…. Came here to with a good friend to catch up over brunch. The menu had a great selection of brunch items and coffee. We had the spinach florentine Benedict and the French toast. They were both delicious! The spinach was not soggy, wilted, or overcooked and the eggs were poached to perfection! Loved their cafe mochas so much we had 2! I rarely have a second cup of specialty coffee when I brunch but this one was worth the extra calories. Can’t wait to take my husband and family.

Very popular casual spot in one of the few remaining historic, low scale Nuevo-Mediterranean buildings that was the norm before the 1960’s Gables commission sold out Merrick’s vision.

Located on the corner of Alhambra & Salzedo in the Gables, this historic eatery is a good place to chill & have some coffee & a snack. There's a cool back patio covered by big shade trees. Food & service are consistently decent but nothing to write home about. It's more about the vibe.

Parking: Metered street parking and paid parking garages nearby.

We placed our order at 12:30 PM but couldn't find a clean, empty table. About five tables were available, but each had dirty plates and cups. We asked an employee for assistance in cleaning a table so we could sit, and they promised to find someone. By 1:00 PM, we were still waiting, so I ended up cleaning a table myself, moving the dirty dishes and cups to the counter. It was 1:30 PM, an hour after ordering, when we finally received our coffee, but still no food. Whether due to understaffing or not, I find it unacceptable to clean my own table and wait an hour just for coffee.

A shame that a historic place does not maintain the quality expected. Unacceptable details: we were 2 people.. We asked for water and they brought only one glass (unusual in the USA)... we asked for an extra plate to share and it didn't occur to them to bring cutlery for two.. The croissant.. Greasy.. Hard.. .the tortilla and the juice.. Correct. Suitable atmosphere.. Piano background music that gives it a nice old feel. Another detail... You pay at the beginning and pay the tip, without knowing what the service will be like.

Everything was very bad, the slow and poorly organized service, the low quality food, they cooked a piece of the bag with the omelet, and mosquitoes on the plate. They charge the tip at the beginning, the objective of the tip has been lost, which is based on the quality of service you have received, now it seems that the establishments do not pay the innkeepers but rather collect it from the customers. I do not recommend this place if you are someone who likes to eat well.

Unbelievably great coffee, great decor, delicious food, and friendly service. This is one of the best coffee shops I've been to in the U.S. I recommend the Demetrio cappuccino and lox benedict.

Enjoy the calm very chill vibe no matter where you sit inside or out. Order anything- Everything is delicious & taste fresh & the Belgium Monte Cristo sandwich is that a hand.
The service was really great, and I say that cause, there was a small hiccup in the order, and the manager took care of it without getting flustered and I like seeing that he didn’t get rattled, with something so small, so that was nice to see.
So, if you get a chance go to Café Demetrio and enjoy.
