Review for Chef Sucre - Coral Gables

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Chef Sucre in Coral Gables, and I was thoroughly impressed! The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, making it a perfect spot for breakfast or a quick bite. The cleanliness and organization of the café stood out; everything was well-maintained and tidy, which always enhances the dining experience.

I ordered a hot chocolate and eggs with jamón serrano, and both were delightful. The hot chocolate was rich and creamy, providing the perfect warmth on a cool morning. The eggs were cooked to perfection, and the addition of jamón serrano added a deliciously savory touch that elevated the dish. It was a satisfying meal that left me feeling content.

The service was impressively fast, which is a huge plus for anyone on a tight schedule. The staff were friendly and attentive, making sure I had everything I needed without being intrusive. Their positive attitude added to the overall enjoyable experience at Chef Sucre.

In summary, if you’re in Coral Gables and looking for a great café with delicious food, quick service, and a welcoming atmosphere, Chef Sucre is definitely worth a visit! I’ll be returning soon to try more of their offerings.

Food is admittedly decent—too much ice in drinks and oversaucy, but that’s all personal stuff.

What really stands apart though is the absolute embarrassment of staff. I order a salad and a turkey sandwich. I get a tuna sandwich. I go “hey I ordered a turkey” and she goes “i read you back your order, you’ll have to pay for turkey.” The problem is this woman is yelling at people from the moment you walk in (excessive hellos and ordering instructions) to the moment you walk out (excessive goodbyes and please come backs) with an abrasive trebly voice that only a mother could love and an ex husband (or two) obviously loathes. Well I must have tuna’d (tuned) her out and missed the tuna callback. I don’t eat tuna (save the dolphins) and I know for a fact I didn’t order tuna. My advice to counter girl is same as grandpas advice for me many years ago: shut your mouth and open your ears. (Or, you have two ears and one mouth, use accordingly).

The owner I think has some type of unease around people and he thinks he’s a celebrity chef, which explains ridiculous high prices.

Ive made the mistake of returning here time and again (last time they told my 4 year old niece she could not sit in the chairs because we hadn’t ordered yet, and we walked out) because my old man likes the place, but this is the dead last time. Chef Sucks Cafe for the overpriced food spot run by maniacs.

Kid-friendliness: Not friendly to kids until you pay…then they can sit.

Don’t listen to the good reviews, the service and hospitality is absolutely terrible. I absolutely don’t recommend.

It’s a cute restaurant, with good coffee, and overall food. But the staff is very rude and obstinate. I’ve ordered medium eggs hundreds of times, and I’ve never seen them essentially raw on top. And they wouldn’t cook themmore, or make new ones, without me paying. Most restaurants are willing to just give you new eggs or at least cook them more. They cited cross contamination, but they could’ve washed the pan after. It’s pretty ridiculous.

We had breakfast. The food was mediocre and expensive. The bread is so thin, you can see through it, and it’s hard. The bacon is cold. We told the server the bacon is cold, she said it’s fresh and walked away. Didn’t try to warm it up in microwave or stovetop for a minute. The manager told us they serve the bacon room temperature so it stays crispy so I don’t know how fresh it is. Anyways, the coffee is good. They have a lunch menu with a good variety of sandwiches so maybe lunch is best there.

Hidden gem, greeted from the moment you enter by an employee who mentions their daily specials. Never been here but I felt very welcomed and every employee was very nice and hospitable. I had the croque monsier and loved it. Will be back whenever I’m in the area.
