We went to Elyu last night (on recommendation of one of the moms on my son’s baseball team) and did the sake pairing. What a great experience - from the ambience (classic omikase bar with modern feel and authentic wall decorations) to the service (from the manager to the conversation with the chefs to the sake sommelier) to the FOOD (every piece was an explosion of flavor, and each piece looked like a work of art - in contrast to other omikases where flavors are more subtle and presentation more plain vanilla - this was because of the chef’s dual Japanese and Filipino heritage, which he shows as fusion in his omikase). I can honestly say i had flavor profiles i never experienced before, the menu was so creative. The chefs were accommodating to my dietary requests, and when we arrived there were personalized menus with each of our names on them - very nice touch.

what a hidden gem, they’ve only been open for 4 months, i could not recommend more highly.

I’m not sure how I feel about ELYU. On the one hand I really enjoyed the appetizers, they were creative and flavorful. The strawberry ice cream at the end was incredible. This place has a large counter (maybe 15 people) so they don’t operate like a typical omakase where the chef makes your dish and hands it to you, instead they make all 15 dishes and then everyone eats at once, which results in dishes that have been sitting for a bit before you eat them. Not a huge deal, it lets them serve the larger counter effectively and likely keeps the price down. I also like the speed at which they served the dishes, they kept things moving nicely but without rushing it.

The real reason I don’t love this place is that the nigiri and uni didn’t match the quality of what I am used to at this level omakase. The fish was a bit slimy and tough, even the otoro which I found odd. Not sure if it was a freshness issue, or maybe lower quality fish. Typically I order 5-7 extra pieces of nigiri after, but I didn’t want anything again here to be honest. The uni didn’t have the bursting sweet ocean-y flavor profile that I typically enjoy. They also don’t use any caviar, which at the price point is somewhat understandable but still disappointing.

Overall not a bad experience, good variety of dishes and certainly had some delicious bites, but not one I would likely repeat at the price. For a “bit” more money there are Omakases in Miami that knock it out of the park across all categories.

ELYU Omakase is hands down one of the most exceptional dining experiences in Coral Gables. From the moment you walk in, the space feels intimate, elegant, and thoughtfully designed the perfect setting for a true omakase experience.
Every course was beautifully presented and incredibly fresh. The fish quality is outstanding, and you can truly taste the precision and care behind each bite. The progression of flavors felt intentional and balanced, with unique touches that elevated the entire meal without overpowering the simplicity of the ingredients.
The chefs are not only highly skilled but also engaging, making the experience feel personal and memorable. Service was seamless, attentive, and warm throughout the evening.
If you’re looking for a refined, authentic omakase experience that rivals some of the best in major cities, ELYU absolutely delivers. Worth every penny!!! We can’t wait to return. MUST TRY EXPERIENCE!

Great Omakase with a twist of the Philippines. With so many of these now opening up around the city is Great to have such unique flavor profiles while still keeping it traditional.

One of the best omakase in Miami! The chef was so attentive, making sure we liked our meal throughout the night. They even went the extra mile and gifted everyone chopsticks and origami at the end of the night. The service was spectacular as well. It was an amazing evening celebrating my birthday. We will definitely be coming back every season to try the different menus.

All I have to say is WOW! I have experienced even international Omakasee, but these guys go above and beyond and the attention to detail doesn’t go unnoticed. 10/10 recommend right in the hearts of Coral Gables.
