With so many good places to try and all the new places making it to the list of hottest restaurants in town, it took me a while to finally try Tina in the Gables.
They are part of the same group that owns Miami Slice and La Latina restaurants.
I showed up for a Sunday brunch and my name was added to the 1+ hour waiting list right away. I walked to the nearby Merrick Shops while I waited for my table. It took about the time I was advised when added my name to the list (~ 1 hour).
The restaurant itself is sort of a hole in the wall, cozy, like you were at home. It has about 8 tables total and a small counter with ~ 6 high chairs. While I like the ambiance, it is almost impossible to dine in there, it’s extremely loud. I know we Cubans talk loud, but that was loud to another level.
As for the food, I’m not amazed to be honest. I had the sunny side duck ($25) and the BLT sandwich ($17). Nothing you can’t do at home for a fraction of the price and with the very same quality. I mean it was good, just that not for that price. It’s criollo food after all.
I also had a flat white and OJ($6). The flat white was just flat. The OJ, I asked if it was fresh squeezed which the server advised it was. It turned it was from concentrate orange juice that was light yellow in color, like those from a carton. There is nothing wrong serving that type of juice, the problem is when you lie. The server asked if everything was good during checking out, I brought the juice issue to his attention, and he dodged it with “I will let them know”.
All in all, I would like to give them another chance, perhaps in a weekday when it is less crowded.

We ordered multiple plates and it was all, So, delicious. Our waiter Joseph made it much more pleasant to sit and eat at this restaurant. Thank you Joseph for having a good attitude! You were an amazing waiter and our family was pleased to have you as our waiter !

I would like to start off by saying that the food was delicious. I got the French toast which was fluffy and melted in your mouth. The scrambled eggs were also very yummy. The matcha was ceremonial and refreshing. However, it did leave a bad taste in my mouth when they charged extra to make it iced???? Anyways, if the food was so good why is it a 3 star? We got toddler sized water cups for starter. I was elbow to elbow with the person behind me and I’m 115lbs 5’0, so I can’t imagine how uncomfortable someone bigger would be. I nearly finished my food before my boyfriend’s plate came out (he had a grilled cheese, which the “soup” is in a sauce dish lol). The bathroom was in the kitchen which is crazyyyy and was boiling hot. I thought the establishment was new because of how disorganized it seemed but it’s been open for a year, so they should have it a lil figured out.

Amazing experience!! Food is always great to and the customer service is amazing! Vanessa took care of us and was so great that we wanted to leave a review . It was very busy and she was by herself and handled the place so well and was very helpful and kind ! We will be coming back

Very small & VERY slow service. Food was amazing but honestly they could be way more successful if they had fast, professional waiters. Tables sat completely filthy 30 mins after parties had finished, that caused long waits and inefficient seating arrangements. Sat is down and did. Not give us any water or menus for another 20 minutes until we demanded them. After that food came out perfect and in time so you can tell there is no problem with the kitchen staff. When finished we waited another 20 minutes just for the billl.

The food it’s absolutely amazing, the quality it’s something that you will not find in other places. I am obsessed with their specialty coffee and the French toast. It’s a very small place I don’t recommend to go on weekends since they just have like 6 tables and the wait time could be very stressful. I like the decoration I just feel like I am on my grandma’s house.

We waited over 2 hours and were told they called us several times, but we never received any calls. When we checked in, they said it had been “last call” just one minute earlier and refused to seat us. After such a long wait, the lack of communication and consideration was extremely frustrating.

The food was nice, but I tried ordering Benedict eggs with salmon and asked for it to be cooked since I’m pregnant, and the chef declined my request stating “it would change the plate”. I just cannot understand why they aren’t able to accommodate the plates to the customers needs; Pregnancy, allergies, intolerance, to name a few, should be reasonable causes to make the exemption to change a plate for that one guest.

Amazing atmosphere food and service !!Went for the first time this Sunday, it just opened this month. The price is not crazy for Miami and the food is delicious. They have pastured raised eggs and organic chicken breast and it’s not out of pocket. The fried food on the menu is cooked in tallow and the sandwiches come with sourdough bread ! I recommend the duck dish which comes with 2 eggs, if you are a protein fan. I had the sandwich BLT and it was really good, the cheese and bacon inside were delicious! The atmosphere it’s really cute and feels like a home and they are dog friendly ! The service is excellent and super friendly
I really recommend getting your brunch of breakfast there !
