Very sad that Howie's has closed. Howie's was the best hot dog place in the area. The hot dogs were excellent along with the rest of the menu.

As a Chi-Town native that grew up on Jimmy's Polish and Johnnie's Beef, THIS PLACE IS LEGIT. I had almost given up hope that I would get authentic Chicago fast food until I came upon their spot a few days ago The sausage beef combo was FIRE.

I'm a Chi-town native that's been living in Miami for over 20 years now. I grew up eating food from Jimmy's polish, Johnnie's Beef and Portillo's. I love Chicago fast food. I have tried several spots here in Miami claiming Chicago style dogs and beefs but not even close. Howie's Top Dog IS THE REAL DEAL folks. When you see pizza puffs on the menu it's a good sign (only Chi-town people know what's up with the pizza puffs). I ordered a sausage beef combo and it was like the heavens opened. I'm talking spicy sausage, the way a TRUE Chicago beef/sausage combo is served!! I couldn't believe it. This place is the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow for Chicago natives now living in Florida. The beef combo I had was even better than Johnnie's Beef on North Ave. in Elmwood Park. Bigger serving, better flavor and great price! Believe the hype!!!!

Gotta say....I didnt like it. Maybe cause I got hot dogs. Reading the reviews sounds like the burgers may be good. Next, horrible location if you come 441 from the south. It's in an industrial area and they say they're "next" to Dunkin Donuts...they're about 6 doors down. Had to do 2 turns on busy, busy 441. I ordered a char hot dog w/cheese and mustard. They asked plain or poppy seed roll, I said plain. Take out order, got home poppy rolls... I am a plain Jane so I only asked for cheese and mustard on them. Too much bread, couldn't taste the dog. I think they need 2 different size rolls. One for "works" and one for "dog only". The onion rings were weird. They were all batter...no onions????? Its like they took skins of an onion ring and battered that.
