Entrees took an hour and a half. Kitchen was unable to keep up. Some entrees were tasty. Outside seating was very noisy.

The cheeseboard left much to be desired. Insufficient amount of toast points and when I asked, we got very few and they were burnt. Server started off with a bad attitude, but improved as the evening progressed. My wife was looking forward to their cauliflower steak, which when she went to order it, she was told they're out of it and that's one of our main menu items. It appears they've gone downhill .

If you're looking for an upscale dinner in the Deland FL area, this is definitely the go to. They have 20+ tables indoors and half-dozen more outside. Large enough to handle a decent crowd but small enough to remain somewhat intimate. Much lower noise level than I've experienced in some of the larger chains (Darden, etc) and excellent professional service. The food was also excellent - I had Duck Breast and my wife had Filet Mignon. This was not the first time we went here and certainly won't be the last!!

Outstanding Service and Ambiance. Chef prepared a wonderful Tile Fish as nightly special. And did not disappoint.

We have wanted to try Cress for some time having heard excellent reviews of their food. We went on the Friday night before Valentines, hoping to avoid at least some of the Valentines crush. The restaurant is 'intimate' in size, predictable for a restaurant in downtown Deland. We were glad we had a reservation, as the restaurant was running near capacity. The interior of the restaurant is well-appointed with nicely done without being overly elegant. The host who greeted us at the door (one of the owners?) was friendly, charming, and quickly got us to our table. The food is the star at this restaurant. From the squash bisque we had to start the meal to the bright notes in the excellently prepared scallops that my wife had as her main, to the incredibly deeply flavored and earthy lamb shank over the bed of pearl couscous, there was not a single complaint on the quality of food. Where the restaurant stumbled was in service. Yes, the restaurant was full, but the timing of courses was way too long for even the finest dining restaurant. Although the server greeted us promptly, it was another 15 minutes before she took our order, over 20 minutes until we received our soup and close to another half an hour after the soup was cleared and before our main dishes arrived. When asked if we wanted dessert, we asked how long it would be and when told another 15 minutes, we politely declined. Hopefully this pacing of service is not typical, as the food is excellent, but the wait that evening was excessive. Finally, as a very small restaurant, the tables are very close together and the restaurant can get quite 'animated,' so if you have hearing issues, this might not be the ideal venue for you.

Nice place to eat. Servers are very pleasant and efficient. Food is always good. While not a large selection, it is distinct from what you get elsewhere. Highly recommended!

Excellent food and service as always. It was a cool evening, however, and the wait staff seemed to ignore it when the door was left open. I had to get up three times and my wife once to shut it and keep the cool wind from blowing on our table.

My husband and I celebrated New Year’s Eve at Cress Restaurant, which also happened to be our anniversary—and it was absolutely perfect. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere felt special: warm, inviting, and ideal for a celebration.

We ordered the red snapper catch of the day and the filet, and both were exceptional—beautifully prepared, perfectly cooked, and full of flavor. For dessert, we shared the white chocolate crème brûlée, which was the ideal ending to an already outstanding meal. Add in great wine and attentive service, and the entire evening felt effortless and memorable.

A wonderful dining experience and a night we’ll truly remember. We’ll definitely be back. 🍷✨

Do not come here on holidays! On the Christmas Eve me and my husband arrived 15 minutes early for a reservation. After being seated we waited 30 minutes before I stopped a passing waiter and made them aware that we had not been greeted by anyone. The first item came to the table at 6:43 pm, we were seated at 5:15 pm. The entrees arrived at 7:49 pm, my filet was over cooked and had to be remade. The entree was remade quickly and the owner came out and apologized. When the bill arrived the restaurant had an auto gratuity of 20% added. Under normal circumstances we would have paid it but after the service we received we asked that it be removed and the owner said no. Do not go to this restaurant on holidays they don’t know how to handle large groups or busy nights.

The chicken Bolognese dish was excellent... Albeit small... The steak sandwiches barely had any meat

Cress isn't just about great food. It's about being in a place where you feel welcome and you can sit down with the owners and have a glass of wine and share some laughs. Would definitely recommend
