A wonderful meal after a visit to the beautiful Japanese gardens.
We ordered vegetarian and regular bento boxes; spicy tuna rolls; noodles off the kids menu and boba tea.
The hot foods were hot, freshly prepared and absolutely delicious. Highly recommend!!

The Cornell Café at Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens offers one of the most delightful lunch experiences in South Florida. Nestled within the serene surroundings of the museum and gardens, the café provides a peaceful and scenic place to enjoy a meal after exploring the beautiful landscape and exhibits. The outdoor and terrace seating overlook the tranquil gardens and lake, making each lunch feel like a moment of calm and relaxation rather than just a meal.
The menu features a well-liked selection of Japanese and Pan-Asian inspired dishes, including teriyaki bowls, bento boxes, and seafood options like salmon teriyaki. Many visitors praise the food quality as fresh, flavorful, and satisfying, often mentioning generous portions and excellent value for the price. The relaxed setting enhances the dishes, allowing you to savor both the flavors and the natural beauty around you.
Service is generally friendly and efficient, though it can get busy when the museum is crowded — especially around lunchtime — so arriving early or right when the café opens can help avoid longer lines. Even with occasional wait times during peak hours, the overall experience remains highly enjoyable.
Overall, the Cornell Café is more than just a convenient lunch stop. It’s a memorable part of your visit to Morikami. Between the lovely views, tasty food, and tranquil vibe, it easily earns a 5-star rating and is worth planning your visit around.

The older reviews are not a fair representation of current offerings. These gardens deserve better dinning. The views are spectacular but the cafe lacks charm with plastic chairs and no attention to detail. You order in a line and then choose a table, several were dirty. Service is minimal and even rude. The amount of food you get for the price is not that great. I think the house salad was literally two pieces of lettuce sliced up. The miso soup was served in a mini bowl, (probably smaller than the size a tennis ball cut in half). The spring roles are very small, half the size of regular ones. The sushi roles were good, but basic. The experience could be much better with just a little more attention to the details, like nicer chairs, how the food is served, and being a little more generous with the quantity. I was a member years ago (just joined again, I am second guessing this choice) and they used to have better service and more and better dishes to choose from. I won't be dinning there again until I hear they make improvements.

The Cornell Café is a peaceful and beautiful spot right inside the Morikami Gardens. The Japanese-inspired menu is delicious and a nice change from typical café food. The beautiful, tranquil view overlooking the lake makes it the perfect place to relax after exploring the gardens.

This place reminded me of my high school’s cafeteria. You go through the line, make your selection and pay. Then you move to the next line to purchase drinks & dessert. Reasonably priced. Teriyaki salmon, rice, vegetables, egg roll, dumplings, & sesame seed balls for $19! Albeit the hot South Florida atmosphere, sitting on the terrace is nice. The views of the garden 🪴 exquisite.

The serving size for the Yaki Noodles was perfect. I added teriyaki chicken, which was an extra $6 on top of the price. My daughter had the Takoyaki and was grinning from ear to ear, sharing a piece to try. It was okay, but the Mango Boba was probably my favorite—the perfect amount of flavor and sweetness, I thoroughly enjoyed. I spent $49 on 3.

I felt that that the atmosphere was not quite welcoming… The food was alright, but the cashier at the front didn’t make for a good experience. She was a bit aggressive and rude… All in all, I rather spend my money elsewhere.

The food is consistently excellent, I’ve been coming here for years with family and it’s always something we look forward to. Have a nice lunch, walk the gardens and enjoy the day. It’s well worth a visit, or multiple.

Note: Dont expect it to be your typical sushi restaurant. This place is more akin to an authentic Japanese restaurant.
