“Ese restaurante y lechonería ha sido un lugar muy especial para nosotros como familia y como antiguos empleados del Winn Dixie desde el año 1987 que llegué a la zona de Allapattah, y ahora cuando viajamos desde Alabama no dejamos de saborear lo que es el mejor pan con lechón de Miami! Y los dueños son súper amables con el público. Dios los siga bendiciendo“

“A La Varita is a new Puerto Rican restaurant in Doral that brings a wonderful Boricua flair and offers a genuinely enjoyable experience. We went there to celebrate a family member’s birthday and had a great time.
From the moment we arrived, the welcome was unmistakably Puerto Rican: warm, smiling, and friendly. We ordered drinks, and, of course, we couldn’t pass up the piña colada. It was delicious and unique—you really have to try it yourself to appreciate it!
The food portions—wow! A single serving can easily be more than enough for two people with average appetites. The advantage of ordering individual portions, though, is that whatever you don’t finish can go home with you to enjoy the next day. And trust me, you’ll be happy to have leftovers!
One thing we did miss was mofongo, tostones, amarillos/maduros, and other dishes featuring green and ripe plantains, which they don’t have on the menu at the moment. Camila, our very friendly and accommodating server—and who happens to be the owner’s daughter—explained that they opened only a couple of months ago and are actively listening to their customers’ feedback as they continue expanding the menu. We’re really looking forward to trying a delicious mofongo and other plantain-based treats—perhaps in time for the end-of-year holidays? Fingers crossed!😉
Overall, the flavors were authentic and really good. Although Puerto Rican food is sometimes perceived as being greasy, that certainly wasn’t our experience at A La Varita. Everything we tried was very well prepared, and even the pernil/lechón (roast pork) was surprisingly lean and absolutely delicious. The desserts and drinks were just as good.
The atmosphere was fantastic, too. There’s live music in the outdoor seating area, where you can also watch them roasting the pork and chicken. It adds a wonderful touch to the whole experience and makes you feel like you’ve stepped into a little corner of Puerto Rico.
All in all, we had a great time at A La Varita. Congratulations to the owners and staff who make this experience possible; we wish them tremendous success. We’re looking forward to visiting again during the upcoming Christmas and New Year holidays, when we imagine the place will be even more packed and buzzing with the joyful, infectious holiday spirit of Puerto Rico..🇵🇷🪇🎶🎄¡Mucho éxito, A La Varita! We’ll be back!
[NOTE: I highly recommend making reservations when you decide to visit. The restaurant is already becoming a hot spot, and fast! We had reservations for Saturday at 6 p.m., and the place was already packed.]“
