We've always enjoyed our experiences here. Michèle is such a talented chef. Great spot for a relaxed evening out. Reminds me so much of my experiences dining out in Europe, where the service is not rushed and you can relax with great food, a bottle of wine or some fantastic Belgian beer and simply enjoy your evening. The phrase “Hidden Gem” gets tossed around too easily these days, but this really fits the definition.
Absolutely delicious food! Mussels (now served nightly) were huge and perfect. Belgium and French beef stews both with rich and creamy gravies. Fries crispy with traditional Belgian mayonnaise, and creamy mashed potatoes. No complaints at all with food. Server was obviously inexperienced and very young. Pleasant and helpful, but no knowledge of beers and wine. Also, surprisingly, they were out of a number of the beers listed on the menu.
Had a lovely dinner. The staff were very professional and friendly and the food was amazing. We really enjoyed it.
Sallie's Bistro was a wonderful experience as always. The Sallie's salad is a favorite starter and I ordered the mushroom toast as an entree because it's one of the best things I've eaten and so unique but very generously portioned that I still took some home. I left room to try the special apple dessert which was like a deconstructed tarte tatin and so delicious. As always service was great, knowledgeable and friendly, like coming home each time we return. Thank you Sallie's!
We paid our first visit to Sallie's but not our last. Who would have imagined to find such a culinary gem in a modest strip mall location? Kieran (host/owner) greeted us warmly and seated us promptly. We shared a lovely bottle of Sancerre and sipped it while enjoying escargot in a garlic sauce that was perfectly balanced. The onion soup was satisfyingly earthy yet incredibly light. The escargot were served alongside one of the best baguettes I have had the pleasure of eating- anywhere in the world. The special - a chicken-based waterzooi was delicious and the tartare was beautifully plated and satisfying. We did not have room for dessert, but the chef kindly agreed to make the apple custard pie available for take-out. The prices are very reasonable, including the wine list and I would recommend the restaurant to anyone who appreciates fine dining as orchestrated by an amazing chef.

This hidden gem did not disappoint! My husband and I tried Sallie’s for the first time
on Valentine’s Day. They had a prix fixe menu and everything from the asparagus spinach soup starter to the amazingly seasoned bouillabaisse to the cardamom carrot cake was DELICIOUS! The husband wife duo (Kieran and Michele) created a warm atmosphere that makes for a perfect date night! They ended our meal with a handwritten Valentine’s card and 10.00 gift card to use a future date. We can’t wait to go back! Do your taste buds a favor and give this place a try!

We absolutely love this place. A hidden gem in a shopping center. Authentic French & Belgian perfection. Everything we have tried there has been amazing. The owner is very personable. They have a fantastic beer selection and they sometimes offer tasting events. Very happy we stumbled across this place. One of our top picks in Dunedin.
