Zee was our waitress at Farlows. Her demeanor was so pleasant, she was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. The food was 10/10, phenomenal. Absolutely recommend the mussels (and saving the leftover broth to pour over and dip literally anything). We had triggerfish with fontina bacon grits and a Caribbean themed platter with shrimp stuffed with blue crab and hollandaise, scallops and grouper. I wish I had room for dessert. Thank you for providing us a wonderful meal and atmosphere for our vacation.

The food and ambiance fantastic as usual. I had the blackened trigger fish with rice & asparagus and my wife the Caesar salad, both excellent!

This is one of our favorite local restaurants. Everything we have there is delicious but the escargot were outstanding and Alexis is not only beautiful but perfection! Thank you!

Our first time at Farlow's and we will definitely be going back. Our server Zee reviewed menu recommendations and how the selections were based on Kentucky and the Caribbean. Great selection of appetizers Thru desserts. We split the Escargot. Delicious and buttery. Salads came with our dinners and the house dressing is excellent. My husband had Gold Tile fish and an ordered the Shrimp and Grits. Both were delicious. After dinner we took a walk on the scenic boardwalk and sunset was beautiful. Definitely recommend.

Service was great, but food quality was uneven. Dinner salad was excellent, as was the fresh baked blueberry pie for dessert. Unfortunately, our entres were average at best. My entre: Ribeye steak was flavorful but tough and fatty. Green beans were overcooked and tough. Fingerling potatoes were good. My wife's entre: Blackened grouper was a small portion with an unusually stong flavor for grouper. Green beans overcooked. Baked sweet potato just ok. Overall, a disappointing birthday dinner out. And overpriced fir the quality of the food. Could barely give a 4 star review - saved by great server and salad plus dessert. Not sure if and when we would return.

Tried Farlow’s for the first time tonight, fell in love at first and thought we had found a really great place. Waiter was great, the early food and drinks were good, ordered a steak entree that they had on the menu as one of their favorites. Paid a good amount for a New York Strip and it was 90% grizzle. Couldn’t chew at all! Host came by table and asked how everything was, which was all great except for the terrible cut of a very expensive entre. She did offer to get us another but we were ready to be done. She said she’d let the chef know. No offer to take anything off of our $160 plus bill. We didn’t ask for anything but seriously disappointed she did nothing! We are a one and done! 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻

Steak au Poivre and Blackened Grouper for a delicious and simple early dinner. Love the interesting variety of menu choices and restaurant atmosphere. The Farlows are doing it right.

Came here two nights in a row. It was so good the first time that we decided to come back the second time and try the other things they had on the menu. Love the ambience by the water. I will be coming back here every time I visit.

Every time I go to Farlows for dinner(now 3 times), I order something different. I haven't found a great dish yet. I felt like leaving when the reception woman said..."you'll have to sit outside" when I said I had no reservation... she could have just said "we have a very nice table on the patio"... the waiter was positive.

Wheelchair accessibility: Terrible. I asked to be moved inside about 2 hrs before my reservation because it was very windy and chilly and because I had our 91 yr old mother who had to be assisted while walking with cane because wheel chairs are not able to maneuver at this restaurant. We could not be accommodated. Instead at our very early 5:30 pm appt, we were led to a table that was absolutely the most exposed and furthest walk for my mother. They did have heaters outside but our table couldn't feel them. We were freezing. Service was slow and really the only decent meal this restaurant can I provide is fried fish. This restaurant is highly overrated by themselves as the best tropical seafood restaurant in southeast FL. Having the Manager come around and ask how your meal was after you have suffered through 1 and 1/2 hrs at a table too small for 6, exposed to wind and mediocre food...it was too much and I sarcastically replied that my review would refer to my 91 year old mother getting frist bite

The experience was not like I expected, the meat for me was salty and overcooked, the waiter did not asked me how I wanted my meat, so I guessed would be middle, but was actually black, we waited 1.5 hours for having our meals, and the salads were served much before the meals. I have to say their salads are good.

Love the local fresh fish options that Farlows has to offer.
We had the Tuna Nacho to start, good, but I do wish they cut the tuna into smaller pieces instead of strips. It made it messy to eat.
The Grouper Cheeks were good, but I didn't think they would be deep-fried. Good, but not as expected.

The St. Croix items were very good!!

Absolutely beautiful atmosphere and popular spot for locals and visitors. Reservations are highly recommended.

Absolutely love the atmosphere!!!!
Want to love the food too, but it just doesn’t have a lot of flavor. We always ask and stress to them we want our fish blackened extra. Never seem to get that extra flavor. We keep trying to go back and give it another chance, but for the price we pay each time, think we will stop trying.

Came to Farlows on the Water and my expectations were completely shattered. First started off waiting 20 minutes for a table when we had a reservation, not a big deal so we carried on. The atmosphere was a 10/10 and the aesthetic of the restaurant is on point. We ordered the pork corn bread and it was pretty tasty although I didn't really taste the pineapple in the pineapple coleslaw. Even though we did have to wait about 10 minutes for the waiter to realize we did not have utensils. Our pre-dinner salad then arrived which I did ask for no tomatoes on my salad, but as i poked around I did find some tomatoes in my no problem I just picked them out. Then dinner came, and if I have to give you one word of advice don't order the St.Johns steak. The flavor was underwhelming and the steak was as tough as rubber, even when ordered as medium rare. I was also only given a butter knife to initially cut the steak which led me to shake the whole table when trying to cut a piece off. I brought this to the attention of our waiter (I believe his name was Robert ). I pointed out how my steak appeared more as rare instead medium rare and how it was extremely tough. The waiter completely ignored the fact that my steak was slightly underdone, assured me that the steak "is tough because it was marinated, you just need a steak knife". I passed the steak around the table and no one could bear to swallow a piece as it was equivalent to chewing a piece of a tire. A good marinaded steak should be TENDER and FLAVORFUL, to which this steak was neither. Save your $31 and go to Texas Roadhouse at least your jaw won't hurt when you're done with your plate. Skipped out on dessert due to the underwhelming experience. Waiter also complained about the amount on his tip, after hovering over my friends shoulder watching him click the tip button. Unbeknownst to him, we WERE going to tip more cash. I'm a waitress and I know most restaurants have a tip out system, I would've made sure he was taken care of regardless of what my friends tipped him. Instead he berated my friend (the birthday boy) "did you mean to tip that much? I have to tip out you know". After so many disappointments and embarrassing my friend that was the last straw. I did talk to a manager who seemed to be concerned about the encounter. Completely ruined our night. Will not be returning.

This time around with a 5:15 reservation is not the same as our last visit in 2024. Sure, the reservation was a couple of minutes behind for a party of 4 outside, no big deal. However, the service & food did not align. Our waitress was great, super friendly & made excellent suggestions. She was a busy lady working very quickly for a handful of tables of 4+ in the heat. Things seemed to start out steady. We received 2 orders of escargot timely, as well as the salads that came with our meals.

NOTE: The 'house' salad dressing is a homerun & highly suggested! A+++

Back to issues... My husband ordered a hogfish special & opted for the oven baked choice. The rest of us ordered off of the regular menu. Nearly an hour after our salad plates were cleared, we were told (at about a 40 minute wait mark) that the hogfish was 'taking longer' as if it were normal. We began to suspect that it was a mess-up in the kitchen.

After being patient, our orders came in but were obviously reheated. My choice of the stuffed flounder was burnt underneath as well as rubbery. The broccoli was impossible to cut. I should have asked, but be aware that the quinoa salad includes green apples, dried cranberries & walnuts - I made the assumption that it would be hot/savory. I didn't ask, so that's my fault.

SEE THE PICTURE - the hogfish my husband received looked like it had been dropped on the ground or mishandled. He was given the opportunity to take a picture before Drew 'de-boned' it for him as part of the $65 'value' they priced it for. It was overcooked, as well. In a nutshell, it was a mess. Drew was doing the best she could but we could tell she was not proud to present this fish.

It was a tough decision but doubtful we'll be returning to Farlow's again when visiting FL. Thank you to the amazing staff.
