The manager’s response to the negative review is false. The little old ladies in our group were more concerned with our friend and never approached the manager after his attack of our friend. Even though one of the meals was comped, the waitress received the cost of the meal in her very generous tip.
Great dinner on Thursday. Not our first time there and it won't be our last. Food and Service were excellent.
When the waitress came to our table to ask how things were, my friend told her that the filet mignon was medium well rather than medium rare. Rather than replacing it she sent the manager over for further examination. He was not convinced and after much discussion offered to cook another one. He also asked how everything else was. My friend had ordered the lettuce wedge and asked if they could serve it chopped. The waitress said she would ask if they weren't too busy. We were dining early and the ONLY table inside the restaurant. They did not chop it. For $17, they should have chopped the "dam salad" I said that to the manager and he said I cursed by saying dam. He returned to the table a bit later, sat down in our booth next to my friend. After a bit I said to please leave our table. He threw me out of the restaurant. We are all gentle women in our 70's. There also was no air conditioning, which is so unusual in SWF.
We had an early dinner at The Saloon which was our first time at the restaurant. We arrived early and were seated by 5:00 PM. We were told by our server that dinner that is served between 5:00 PM and 5:30 PM is deeply discounted. That was a pleasant surprise. I had the filet mignon which was excellent. It was delicately seasoned without being heavily salted like in so many steak houses. My husband had the prime rib which he thoroughly enjoyed. Our server, Josh was superb. We have been to 4 and 5 star restaurants and I have to say, Josh was probably the best server we ever had. He was attentive, professional and personable. The baked potato is served covered with mashed potatoes, which I didn't care for. I was polite about it, and asked Josh if I could have a plain baked potato. The restaurant was crowded and I thought I would have to wait. Instead, in just a few short minutes, he brought me out the baked potato I asked for. And was so nice about it. The manager introduced himself and asked us how we enjoyed the meal which is a nice touch. I wish more restaurants did this. The restaurant is very pretty and relaxing. We will be back.
Nice menu selection for appetizers and entrees. Great happy hour between 4:30-5:30 with up to 50% off entrees and drinks.
I got the petite filet and man it was delicious ! Cooked perfectly , great flavor ! The knob creek demi was also super tasty ! Our waitress Jenna said it was second day and she did phenomenal! Super attentive , and gave great recommendations. I’ll definitely be back !
Vegetarian options: I saw a few options that were vegetarian .
Parking: The saloon at coconut point , plenty of parking !
NO, JUST NO!!!!! All around poor, will not be back! To start the prices on Yelp are not the same as prices on their restaurant menu! I’m all about paying for a good meal but this was no where near good in my opinion. Ordered prime rib and the server informed me they only have prime on weekends. No where did the restaurant menu or online say there were specifics on days or times. Ordered the wings instead because steak choices were not what I like. They were way over cooked and dry and came with no dipping sauce. Also had the crab and shrimp chowder. Smelled bad and tasted worse! Server was terrible! Asked questions but didn’t wait for an answer before she was walking away. Didn’t acknowledge the fact that I didn’t eat my soup or ask if anyone wanted refills on drinks. She was kind of like a robot but did inform us the owner has over a million dollars in art on the walls. Wow, who cares, the food sucks! In addition to my poor experience, I received a nasty message from the manager on duty that night telling me my experience was NOT my experience which I found to be the icing on the cake. SWFL has amazing restaurants but this place is not one of them!
OVERPRICED, POOR QUALITY! All around poor, will not be back! To start the prices on Yelp are not the same as prices on their restaurant menu so check their website. $50 for a gristly Net York Strip, ordered it Medium but it came out rare. My dad won’t send food back as he was a general manager of restaurants for a high end large volume restaurant and because of that we choose not to send food back. If you charge $50 for a steak, you should know how to cook it and I shouldn’t have to send it back. I have worked in the restaurant business for over 30 years and can honestly say, this is one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had with a restaurant and management! I ordered prime rib and the server informed me they only have prime on weekends. No where did the restaurant menu or online indicate it was only available on specific days. It said limited quantities which they have now changed to indicate that it’s only available on weekends. Nonetheless, when I was there it did not say that. Ordered the wings instead because steak choices were not what I like. They were way over cooked and dry and came with no dipping sauce. Management tells me there are 4 sauces on every table but there weren’t any on any table. Crab and shrimp chowder smelled fishy which is an indication of bad seafood, um no thanks! The service was poor and I know now she had to be trained in by the bad manager. Chris insisted she did not give poor service but I have 4 opinions at 1 table that feel otherwise. She was like a robot but did inform us the owner has over a million dollars in art on the walls. Wow, who cares, the food was awful. They should consider selling their art and putting it into a salary for manager that knows something about customer service because Chris needs some serious re-training! Both the server and manager ran by in stride asking if everything was Ok and to me that means they don’t care to actually know, they are just required by corporate to do that. Well corporate, not only did Chris ensure we won’t be back to The Saloon or any of their other restaurants. None of the managements response to my review was accepting responsibility for the poor experience so yes, I made it a high priority to ensure others are aware of what they spend their hard earned money on. So many choices for great food and this is near the bottom of the poor list in all aspects! The best part of all of this is the management believes making excuses for his poor management and bad food will somehow make others believe my opinions aren’t accurate. Do yourself a favor and read the rest of the bad reviews if you don’t believe mine, you’ll definitely see a pattern. I think Chris, the general manager needs to visit Roy’s down the street! They are AMAZING, great food, great service, and their manager actually stops at the table to ask how the food is.

If you’re in the area, this place is a must! Huge drink menu and great value on the wine list. We ordered the deviled eggs and bubble bread (you need bubble bread in your life). Then we had salads, wedge for me and fresh salad for my wife. Both were plated beautifully with bright colours. For the main, we shared the porterhouse. It was HUGE and cooked to perfection with a really nice smoke flavour from the wood fire. No room for dessert but David was our server and he was awesome. He’s a real pro and very good at his job.

Run don’t walk away from The Saloon! At first, join our club. So we do and then order from the Specials for Members and the Special was at the other 4 restaurants in the club but not The Saloon. The Manager agreed to match the 20% discount and we were fine. Ordered two breads, got one. Bread was fine. Ordered dinner and this is when disappointment set in! We had a Med rare filet that was rare - workable- then the next filet was med rare not med - workable - then next filet was well done and the lobster was disgusting! We ordered broccoli and mixed veg for the table - had to again remind to bring it out - then under cooked! The second filet was under cooked - taken back and then was over cooked again. Manager took half of the filet off since we ate it!They have all the tools to be great, but someone has to bring that together!Better steaks real close to here!!
It was an awesome place. I went in at 5:00 on a weekday and they gave me a discount. The steak was so good.
What a hidden gem. I’m a local and didn’t realize this was a restaurant. I feel ashamed now because it’s awesome. The food, the service, the atmosphere, the drinks and desserts. We went for a birthday celebration, 3 couples, and not 1 complaint and everyone can’t wait to be back. Hours are limited 5p-8 or 8:30p so keep that in mind if you plan a visit. I use opentable and make a reservation.
This review is for the benefit of those debating dining here……as I noticed in prior reviews that management deflects complaints. Our dinner at this establishment was a dismal failure from the beginning. Arrived 10 minutes early and curtly told by manager that our party would be seated at reservation time…and she walked away. Mind you, we have never been in this restaurant, so we were looking where to wait as she didn’t bother to let us know. The kicker was….the place was empty!!!! Complete head shaking moment.Once seated (at exact time and not a moment before)..we met our server who was a delight. Though he did not appear to know the menu very well or the prices. Drinks took quite awhile to arrive and the prices were so exaggerated. The filets , we ordered 3, were over-cooked and my brisket was riddled with fat/gristle. I had to ask for salt & pepper along with ketchup and was a bit of a wait for it all. Now this is not even season…in fact, by this time was 1/4 full on inside….not sure about the outdoor seating…perhaps the slow pace was due to a staffing issueAs I usually read the reviews prior to going to a new venue…I wasn’t the one who made the reservations. Later reading the reviews….I noted they reply to negative reviews by saying the diners should’ve let the manager on duty know. Well, guess what? We did! The bill was simply a mess and the reason being was our server told us everything on main menu was 50% off. He admitted he did….and the manager right then should have said we will honor those prices for you. Yet she did not…she just looked at server and said that it was on the sign. Oh did I mention she then walked away. Was that supposed to be a teachable moment? I think not….poor servers need the correct/proper training.I would not recommend this restaurant to others, as there are similar (and better) restaurant options for the price point and with hands on servers.
WOW! Can't believe this hidden gem in it's busy location. Insanely great chef curated food from appetizers to dessert. Staff is attentive without being intrusive and it's a nice departure from overcrowded, overrated and overpriced competitors. It's a definite recommended treat for a special night or just a great dinner with some friends.
