Disappointing Service Overshadowed Excellent Food

My wife and I visited Luigi’s Italian Restaurant in Eustis, FL on January 9, 2026, expecting a great experience based on the many positive reviews. Unfortunately, while the food itself was excellent, the service and management response left a very poor impression.

I ordered the veal marsala, and while it was well prepared, the portion was extremely small — the veal medallion was roughly the size of a small playing card. When I politely mentioned this to our server, her demeanor changed immediately. She acknowledged the comment but essentially disengaged from our table afterward.

I asked to speak with a manager, who explained that portions are determined by weight. After some discussion, he asked what resolution I was looking for, and I suggested that an additional piece of veal would be appropriate. He abruptly said that was not possible. A few minutes later, he returned and offered a 10% discount on the meals, which amounted to about $5 total. Frankly, I would have preferred a reasonable portion over a small discount.

To add to the experience, I paid with an American Express card, and the server was unfamiliar with the data entry process and entered the CCV incorrectly. When she returned to the table, she loudly announced that my card had been declined. It was not declined — I showed her how to enter the correct CCV, and the charge went through without issue.

The food was genuinely very good, but between the abrupt change in service, the lack of a reasonable solution from management, and the embarrassing handling of the payment, we will not be returning. Quality food alone does not make up for poor customer service

Before I went in for surgery, all I wanted was a Greek salad and knots. Luigi went above and beyond to make it the best meal I think I've ever had in my life. A cherished friend, wonderful atmosphere, you literally cannot go wrong with Luigi's ❤️

First visit, 09/24/25. Just really not the quality I was expecting. Ordered, for take out at the counter, a small pizza with pepperoni/garlic/onions, chicken strips, a small caesar salad(a side salad), and a coke(got a diet Pepsi, but they did not tell you that). Well, the pizza really just was not good(kind of tough crust) and I did not realize if you do not ask for it there is no pizza sauce on their pizza. The salad came in very small styrofoam container.....really was a small salad. I was taking this to an elderly person who had just entered a physical rehab facility for a broken foot. Sure felt bad about delivering this to her; she ate part of one slice of the pizza. I also would have thought they would have put some plastic utensils in beings a salad was purchased as we were called to counter and they had things bagged. This place has a lot of high marks, but sorry I cannot do that. Paid around $35 for this one time experience..

We were passing through Tavares on our way to Central Florida from North Carolina. Had a hankering for pizza and it was near the hotel. Happy to report it was some of the best pizza we have ever had. Even took the leftovers with us and had cold pizza the next day in the car. Highly recommended!!

I had spaghetti with clams . The garlic knots came out late. I had coffee an asked for refill so she had to go make a pot. Food was very good.

Honestly wow. 🤯
We got scorned by a place in Winter Garden and needed a redemption. Who knew that we had amazing food like this right in our own backyard??
I got the chicken piccata and it was next level delicious. The garlic knots were PILLOWY and amazing. 🤩 10/10 on the food, price and everything else.
Plus the staff were super friendly! We will definitely be back.
