When you go to a Sonny's, you know exactly what to expect. A southern vibe, comfy tables, generous portions and the second you walk in and that hickory smell hits you in the nose.
It's a dangerous place if you are on a diet, but if it's no concern to you or you are on a cheat day, this is about as good as you can get.
I'm currently stuck on the brisket sandwich, on texas toast. Before that I was scope locked on their tater tot bowls. Before that i was on a pulled pork sandwich kick for a long time.
My main problem is that there's always something beckoning to me. So much good food.
Staff is always friendly and the place fits like an old pair of jeans that's been broken in perfectly.
The Sonny's in Fort Myers was my first experience with a BBQ restaurant back in the 70s and 80s, might be why I still love it today.

I didn't give it 5 stars because when we got to our table there were ants crawling all over the table. They moved us to another table. The service was a little slow. I had to get up and walk over to my server cuz they were taking too long. Mine and my hubby's ribs were delicious!!! My dinner companions were not happy with their food. They put bbq sauce on her salad.

Nice location, friendly staff. A smidge below the usual quality on a couple things (fries and Mac & cheese were a little cold) but everything else was great. Super friendly staff, clean interior. Prices are reasonable, though they keep inching higher.

Kind of crowded and with a highchair and a power scooter in the walkway it was a bit much for the staff to clear and clean the tables. Noah was just so sweet and he did a great job through it all. We ordered the pulled pork dinner and the sliced brisket dinner... His pulled pork and my sliced brisket were cold and the brisket was tough. Although the beans were perfect as always the cold slaw was bland and tasteless. Unfortunately it was our first time at the Eustis location and it was probably our last.
