My husband and I came in for dinner around 8:30 pm. Eustis, Fl location where we have been many times and had our order down perfectly. My top favorite things are the baby back ribs and mac and cheese. And I love to have leftovers. The family feast was the best option for our family because I could get all the things I liked and it was just an up charge to have baby back ribs instead of St. Louis ribs. I was so excited and couldn’t wait to finally have Sonny’s for dinner. Turns out this specific location decided they wanted to change multiple things around on their menu, including no longer allowing you to switch to baby back ribs for the family feast as an up charge. Which is honestly upsetting because they also don’t really offer an alternative option that we can really maximize what we order and yet it be affordable. I do understand things change and you just have to deal with it. But with this change it took my husband and I longer to figure out a way to order to best meet what we were wanting and still be reasonably priced. We had to keep asking the waiter to give us some time to figure it out and so we ended up ordering later than we planned and that brought us a little closer to closing time. When they brought the food out it was working 9:15 but the restaurant was still open. My main complaint is that the mac and cheese they served was old, not fresh, wet and mushy and was just not prepared well at all. When we told the waiter about it, she said that was the only one they had left and they couldn’t prepare anymore and offered to substitute it for another side. There was no other side I wanted. I’ve been waiting and dreaming about having Sonny’s for dinner for a week and enjoying my favorite part which is the mac and cheese and they ruined it. It was still early enough that they should have prepare a fresh mac and cheese to be served. The original one they brought out is something that shouldn’t have been served in the first place, as the waiter even mentioned that it wasn’t fresh. But they chose to have terrible customer service and not put the customer first. I get the restaurant being close to closing and the employees wanting to clean up quickly and get out as soon as they can but that should not come with providing terrible customer service. My husband did ask if something else could be done and they took a discount off the check but a discount isn’t going to fix the fact that my meal was ruined and now I have to go to bed upset and unsatisfied and honestly, hungry because I didn’t want to eat anything else without my meal being complete. This may sound silly and dramatic but I don’t think so when it comes to a business where customer satisfaction and treating the customer respectfully is a huge part of being a successful business. I probably won’t be coming to this location any longer due to their lack of providing decent customer service. They could have simply prepared another mac and cheese and not ruined my entire night. I wish I had taken a picture before I sent it back.

When you go to a Sonny's, you know exactly what to expect. A southern vibe, comfy tables, generous portions and the second you walk in and that hickory smell hits you in the nose.
It's a dangerous place if you are on a diet, but if it's no concern to you or you are on a cheat day, this is about as good as you can get.
I'm currently stuck on the brisket sandwich, on texas toast. Before that I was scope locked on their tater tot bowls. Before that i was on a pulled pork sandwich kick for a long time.
My main problem is that there's always something beckoning to me. So much good food.
Staff is always friendly and the place fits like an old pair of jeans that's been broken in perfectly.
The Sonny's in Fort Myers was my first experience with a BBQ restaurant back in the 70s and 80s, might be why I still love it today.

I didn't give it 5 stars because when we got to our table there were ants crawling all over the table. They moved us to another table. The service was a little slow. I had to get up and walk over to my server cuz they were taking too long. Mine and my hubby's ribs were delicious!!! My dinner companions were not happy with their food. They put bbq sauce on her salad.
