We had the absolute privilege of coming to this restaurant for our monthly date night, and we were even so lucky to have joy as our server she stayed late and made sure that we were fully taken care of. It was a fantastic experience with her even better sushi recommendation we will be coming back and will be recommending to anybody in the area.

Service was fast and very friendly, and the food was hot and fresh. Overall by far the best dining experience we had on the island during our trip!

Best sushi in the area! We have tried many sushi places in and around Yulee and Fernandina Beach and been disappointed so we were so happy to find this place! We will be back for sure.

Mixed feelings about the food. Sushi rolls were average to a bit less than. Steak and rice bowl was tender and good flavor. Seaweed salad was fresh and very tasty. Service was good albeit a bit slow. I would give it another chance for dishes other than sushi.

100% recommend! Will return next time we are in Fernandina. Ordered the miso soup, gyoza, lo mein and the Dynamight roll. Absolutely delicious and finished every bite! $35 total for 2 people to happily fill up.

The service here is terrible. We walked up to the hostess stand and stood there for several minutes while the hostess stared at her screen and didn’t look at us or acknowledge we were there. I asked if we should seat ourselves. The hostess said “two minutes” then walked away and didn’t return. A guy came up to the hostess stand, also didn’t acknowledge us and walked way without speaking to us.
So we walked out and won’t ever return.
Guess I know why they had so many open tables.

Not a sushi person, but my son is.m, and it was his birthday. The waitress was absent both in personality and service. She didn’t have basic knowledge about drinks on the menu. The portions were small, but quite tasty. The bathroom was old, nothing fancy. I had to repeatedly ask our server for simple things like napkins. She came close to our table twice without bringing me what I had asked for. It was not crowded so there was no excuse for that. Also, $85 for three people’s lunch was very expensive. IMHO.

Second time disappointed with this restaurant. Located in a very charming historic home with porch seating in downtown Fernandina. The whole place needs a scrub down badly. There were two servers on a Friday. Do we order at register? Do we wait at our table forever? Confusing. Food took years ro arrive. The sushi is really good! Very fresh! And prices are moderate for quality of sushi. But gosh, if you are hungry and don't have 2-3 hours for dinner - move along. Or better yet, order to-go at the register and take your food to the waterfront and eat it at a bench on the marina.

I’ve been here twice now and both times were disappointing. After the first time, I had no intentions of returning but last night my family was meeting up for dinner and they chose Akari so I figured I would give it one more shot. It was absolutely terrible. We got there at 6pm on a Friday night and were seated right away. Ordered appetizers and drinks. Once the appetizers and drinks came out, our server took our main order and after that we never saw her again. About 20 min past, our mains came out except for 2 of them. All of our waters were empty and all of our empty appetizer dishes were never cleared from our table. We wait another 10 min hoping for the remaining 2 dishes to come out so we could all eat together. Finally I walk inside to the kitchen to speak with someone and both of our missing dishes are just sitting in the heat lamp window. I ask when they would bring them out and the waitress who disappeared earlier just kind of mumbled. I then told them all of us needed water too as we’ve had no refills. No response. So I walk back out and a few minutes later they bring the remaining entrees and fill our water. I also had to ask if they could clear some of our empty appetizer plates. With everything that happened there was no apology or any sort of remorse on their behalf. The original waitress never came out again, the young boy who brought our dishes and waters was making it obvious he was very annoyed with us. After we ate we waited around for a bit to see if our check would be brought, nobody ever came. My mom ended up going inside to ask to pay the bill. It wouldn’t have been a big deal if the food made up for the service, but the food is subpar and the portions are super small! The teriyaki chicken dinner entree we ordered for $17 was the size of a kids plate. We will never return!
