This was a fun find. We were in town for a festival and we were looking for a nice place for lunch. Authentic Mexican food sounded excellent, it’s literally a Market withThe The café area, the food was great, and the service good. The prices were reasonable, it was fun to look at the things in the market while we are waiting for our food. We will return.

Excellent Authentic Latin Food! Our family visited for the first time and we will be back next time we’re in town! The ingredients were fresh, staff was very friendly and service was quick and efficient. Prices were very reasonable for the larger portions we received. We all enjoyed our meals.

Compared to other Mexican restaurants on the Island, La Surena's food is more genuine. Particularly when contrasted with other Mexican restaurants, the pricing are fairly reasonable. In addition, a market selling Mexican food, snacks, drinks, etc. is there.

Phone number is incorrect and does not work to call the store. Please update this phone number because they do not own it. It is someone else's phone number to a bounce house company.

The food at La Surena is more authentic than any other Mexican food on the Island. The prices are quite good, especially when compared with the other similar restaurants around. It's not fancy inside, more like a cafeteria, but no matter, it's worth it. They do not have a liquor license but they do allow you to bring in beer or wine from First Love Brewery right next door. And when you're done eating you can stock up on hispanic foodstuffs from their little grocery.

(Translated by Google) It's not a restaurant, it's a mini market... we drove 30m to have breakfast and found that there was nothing, more than tacos...(Original)No es un restaurante es un mini market.. manejamos 30m para desayunar y encontrarnos q no había nada, más q tacos..

Best Mexican food I’ve had on a long time. Might go back tonight for dinner. While this place may not be as fancy as the others in the area this place blow the others away when it come to freshness and flavor.

This is a market with a restaurant. We have been in it once before for the market but decided to try the restaurant. The food is without words, you have to taste the dishes to experience the best Mexican the island has to offer. In fact, we went two nights in a row! We tried the tacos, very simple but full of flavor. Next came the taco salad with chicken. Fresh mixed greens with rice, beans (whole), and chicken in a fresh fried bowl. Again, excellent dish. The burrito is to die for! Full of flavor with a unique red sauce that complimented the entree. The price is 3/4 what you would pay at the other like restaurants on the island for the quality of food. Be aware they do not sell beer or mixed beverages and the atmosphere is that of a market, nothing special. Overall, this is one restaurant we will visit time and time again. A+ La Surena!

I stopped in here to get some tamales to go. This place is the real deal. I got chicken tamales and they were delicious. The place is cafe on one side, market on the other.

We were looking for a light lunch and were glad we tried this place. It is a combination restaurant and store so it isn't obvious from the outside. I had 2 carne asada tacos and one carnitas taco. My wife had a quesadilla. They were very good and the price was great. The tacos reminded me of business trips to Sonora where my friend would take me for 'real Mexican food' and get tacos from a taco cart.

That sounds like a backhanded compliment and I don't mean it that way. We go to Amelia twice a year and while I love Mexican food, that's not usually what I focus on when dining and Amelia has no great options in my view. But, sometimes a burrito just calls your name and I tried La Surena. I was pleasantly surprised with the size of the burrito, the flavors, the portions (not too much rice like I had read in a review) and a pretty tasty sauce. I wouldn't dine in. They have some tables but this is market too. I will go back the next time in town if I need a burrito.

This is a building that has seen many changes and I am here to say that it needs another change. The staff was kind and inviting, however; service was slow even when the place was empty. The food left little to be desired and the money spent would have been better used at Publix buying boxed Mexican food. The taste, and consistency were lacking. The salsa was water with peppers and a little bit of tomato. I cannot find a good thing to say about the food... Honest Opinion...cdw

We've enjoyed take out from here, and shopped their grocery -- wait 'til you see their selection of dried chiles. But Saturday we were finally back to having an evening out. We enjoyed their wonderful real Mexican cooking, served in a casual setting by a caring staff at a reasonable price. And we ran into an old friend. Terrific.
