Incredible food, atmosphere, service, and everything. It was recommended as the best place in downtown Amelia Island by our Uber driver so we decided to give it a try. To start, they bring out free tostadas and salsa. The salsa had such an excellent spice to it. We were recommended to try the organic margarita and we also ordered the specialty margarita. I will admit that I was skeptical of Mezcal Spirit of Oaxaca at first. Some of the best Mexican I’ve had has been from a dilapidated food truck or little old lady, and when Mexican becomes a little pretentious, I tend to wonder if the meal will be worth the up-charge. I am happy to report that Mezcal Spirit of Oaxaca seems to have gotten the balance right! Maybe it shouldn’t be a surprise because the owner had Pablo’s (now closed) for many years before opening this new establishment....
Maria M. was our server this evening, and I would like to give her a special shoutout! She was so knowledgeable about the menu and gave great recommendations. It was a breath of fresh air to have a server that so clearly cares deeply about the food she serves. Thank you Maria!
