Blue Tree Cafe Vegan Soul Food

My wife is trying to eat more vegan/plant based food, so we tried blue tree Café. I don’t remember the names of the items that we tried, but I believe they were “soul bowls”. We’ve got one of them with barbecued mushrooms, mac & cheese, and collard greens, while the other had fried oyster mushrooms, collard greens, and cornbread. We also ordered the hibiscus tea (sorrel).
Everything was flavorful, and delicious! Growing up with vegan parents,, and loving meat, I didn’t expect it to taste as good as it did. The candy yams were done well… Not too sweet, and the yams will cook perfectly; firm, yet Soft enough to cut with a spoon. The hibiscus tea was nice, though it could’ve been a little bit sweeter for my personal taste. My wife absolutely loved it just how I was.
Service was great. The restaurant is relatively new, and decorated very nicely.
We all definitely be ordering from here again.

I was coming from Miami got off the exit to try this place but it was close. You should update your website so people don’t waste time & gas.

OMG! This food was so good!! I got the cauliflower instead of the BBQ mushrooms. But it was soooo flavorful. Now I have another vegan restaurant to eat in.

So good!!! They’re only open a few days a week and I always say the best restaurants really need those days for prep and you can taste the difference. Fresh everything and amazing staff!

I was looking forward to coming today because I’ve had this place in mind for months, but couldn’t make it before because of my schedule. Unfortunately, it will be my first and last time here after the experience I had today.

By the way, you can only take the orders to go in case other reviews didn’t mention that.

So, I walk in, was the only customer there, and ended up waiting longer than I expected to. I ordered the Crispy Cauli Wings with BBQ Sauce, and Collard Greens and Mac for the sides. When I got my food, I noticed there were BBQ Mushrooms instead of the Cauli Wings. When I brought that to the young girl’s attention that was at the front when I placed the order, she asked the young boy right in front of me and he tells me “you didn’t order that”. Then, when my order got taken to the back to be corrected I heard someone say out loud “she gone have to wait”. There were other things said by the young girl but she lowered her voice so I couldn’t really hear whatever else was said. I didn’t acknowledge having heard that comment I just simply asked when the young girl came back to the front if the rest of the food I ordered would be kept warm while I waited for the Cauli Wings because I was planning on eating the food not long after I got it. I also asked for extra napkins and an extra sauce (which I didn’t mind paying for) and it seemed like there was a problem with me making these requests.

Overall, the food was okay. I liked the Cauli Wings the most. The Sweet Potato Pie was good, but the filling was a little mushier than what I’m used to. The Mac was okay; good flavor, I’m just not a fan of liquidy Mac. The Collard Greens I didn’t like much because it lacked flavor. Lastly, I wouldn’t recommend the corn bread either because it was really bland.

For my first time I did not feel welcome and I did say it's my first time. I personally wouldn't go back the young lady was not helpful in assisting me. I felt out of place and uncomfortable.

What a delight! Hard enough finding a good variety of Vegan food, and to find this hidden gem of Vegan Soul Food is a major score. A must for any vegan. The Mac and Cheese is awesome! They were out of collard greens, so I'm just going to have to go back soon to try them. 😋😋😋😋

Was looking for some vegan Mac and Cheese around the area and was not let down. The BEST vegan Mac and Cheese I’ve had.

Great vegan food. No space for eating here, it is a take and go place. I recommend ordering ahead of time because it can be a bit of a wait.

I had the pleasure of visiting Blue Tree Cafe. The staff was nice and friendly and the restaurant was clean. I loved their cauli-wings and chick peas.
