I’ve always loved Fireman Derek’s, so I was excited when the Fort Lauderdale location opened. I left a star rating during their first year but held off on writing a detailed review to give them some time to settle in. Unfortunately, even after waiting, I feel the experience falls short.

The staff seems disengaged, and the overall vibe is lacking. It’s a completely different atmosphere from what I’ve experienced at the Wynwood and Coral Gables locations, both before and after expansion.

On my last visit, I went to order my usual and was told they were out of stock, even though I could see a full cake in the fridge. I was told it was for display only, which was frustrating.

I continue to go because I know what I want, but the lackluster environment makes it hard to recommend to newcomers. When I do bring someone, I always warn them that the Miami locations offer a much better experience.

As for pricing, while I’ve seen comments mentioning that it’s steep, I don’t think the quality of the cake is comparable to what you’d find at local diners nearby.

I hope things improve over time.

I would like to add on my last two visits they have been out of stock of the items I usually buy. There is no direct phone number to contact this location.

Terrible customer service. Mediocre food. I ordered the cookies and cream cheesecake, and they packaged up a frozen piece of cheesecake. After discussing with the team members about it, they seemed not to care about my concern. They did end up reluctantly giving me another piece of cheesecake that wasn’t frozen, but it seemed like I was a total bother to their business, notwithstanding there was no one else in the restaurant. Cheesecake was mediocre for the price.

This review is for delivery via Door Dash. Back in town for a few months so we decided to try Fireman Derek's for that occassional sweet tooth craving. Had visited a decade ago and it was pretty awesome, but this time around via delivery, verdict more on the good but not great side of the house. One Salted Caramel Pie ( signature crack pie, lol) and 1 Carrot Cake slice and $35 later (delivery fees sure add up!) it may be awhile before doling out that amount of greenbacks again for a dose of added sugar and calories. The crack pie still good, but the carrot cake slice to be honest, was just meh, ok. Perhaps a dine-in experience as well as a reduced out of pocket expense would have resulted in a much higher review, perhaps.

Went in today for the first time and was blown away by the wide selection of goodies. Abby highly recommended the Key Lime Pie and she was right! It’s so delicious. I can’t wait to bring my son by after school for a treat!

We are in South FL… and the key lime pie does not taste like a true key lime pie. the whipped cream tasted old & refrigerated. The crust was a horrible consistency and the flavor of the pie tasted like it had processed lime syrup or something disgusting. And to top it off a slice is worth $10. I am highly unimpressed and annoyed to have wasted my money on terrible quality that feels entitled to be overpriced. I get way better key lime pies a bit closer to the beach at the most casual restaurants and for $5. Not coming back. Absolutely gross

had german chocolate cake on jar, was like eating Mush and sugar topped with a stiff very salty chocolate on top that was so sugary it was inedible, the german filling was some dry coconut and sugary soup , it was awful and will never order again

Fireman Derek truly never disappoints! Every time I have a special occasion or birthday, my first thought is getting something from his bakery -- It makes every experience more memorable & enjoyable -- I love how you can customize the cake however you want--- half red velvet cake and half birthday is the BEST & a fan favorite!
