We were interested in throwing Axe's and found this place that was open so we booked it and went. We all had a fantastic time! We will definitely go back. Check your Groupon for deals, it was well worth it!

Himmarshee Public House recently opened in a location previously occupied by Porterhouse Bar & Grill, Porterhouse Lounge, Mardi Gras or some sort take off of what was once the exceptionally good Cajun restaurant, Creolina's, Bourbon and other previously failed restaurant operations. As a person always eager for a taste of the culinary unique, I was attracted to them when I read their menu offerings of various smaller plate items such as a candied bacon of duroc pork belly, spicy lamb ribs with a root beer glaze, a salt and pepper calamari flash fried with pickled daikon along with a chili mayo, various "Street Tacos," a good number of flat breads including a fig and prosciutto with baby arugula, goat cheese and a balsamic glaze. I was also interested in their large plate Signature "Southern Style" Fried Chicken, a "suwannee farms" rib eye, a good number of sandwiches and a fantastically extensive listing of select crafted draft and bottled beers.Of the food I tried I couldn't have been more pleased, a perfectly prepared "Ahi Tuna Tartare" avocado with real scallion, ponzu, a spicy mayo and wontons but also very best lamb ribs I've ever had that were done with an abita (oddly spelled with a small "a" on their menu) "root beer" glaze, toasted sesame and scallion. I've had a number of lamb ribs dishes prepared in varying styles in the past but these were the best in texture and taste it's ever been my pleasure to enjoy with the plus of being a really rare culinary find. From the food I had plus the wonderfully chosen beer and ale selection I could really go Five Stars, but unfortunately I can't since, to me, there are distinct and definite downsides to Himmarshee Public House, oddly enough, pretty much the same as those that doomed the previous occupants of this location.First off, the place is a mixed bag, a place that seemingly tries to be too many things to too many people. The atmosphere comes off as being a comingled concoction of a sports bar having large flat screens, a beer bar, a restaurant, a lounge and a sidewalk café all in one. Hence for atmosphere, it lacks central theme, defining statement or coherence but being located within the heart of the night life drinking district, my guess would be in an intentional effort to accommodate a complete change of customer crowd from that of restaurant to rowdy nightlife partiers. The worst part however is the wait staff. It's as if someone went out and intentionally hired a bunch of street assassins to knock off the superlative culinary efforts put forth in the kitchen. When I was present there were several bartendresses who clearly had to have been chosen more for eye appeal than competence who generally fumbled around, seemingly having no idea of what they were doing, were not just exceedingly but excruciatingly slow and generally more interested in talking between themselves than attending to the few customers that were present. Then there was my ink skinned waiter wearing an attire more suitable for ditch digging than table waiting who seemed to relish in using what might have been hipster slang by referring to me as "boss" and "boss man." Maybe I shouldn't be edgy about that, but it struck me as language more appropriately directed toward a chain gang leader in Macon County Georgia than a humble mild mannered (wink) restaurant customer of the Himmarshee District.A solid Four Stars Plus on food but a low Two Stars minus on service and general atmosphere.

I tried this spot before with my friend and I am obsessed since then. I loved the fantastic atmosphere and fresh food and beverages. 5 stars from me.

The staff are beyond friendly. My bridesmaids & I did brunch here. The food was good but offered no healthy options. Novelty brunch mostly about the drinks

Pretty good food once it finally arrived, but *VERY SLOW* brunch service. Could it have just been an especially bad day for them? Don't know. And, at those prices with that service, I am not going to find out.

We were told that there was a 45-60 minute wait for a table which was fine, it looked pretty busy. But after about 45 minutes and noticing that there were quite a few tables sitting empty we finally went back to the host stand and the hostess apologized because she forgot about us. We finally got our food and it was a very mixed bag. The Brussels sprouts were great, the fish tacos were pretty good, and the steak sandwich and beef tenderloin were pretty much inedible. The beef (both medium rare) was so chewy I ate about two pieces before taking it all out of the sandwich and just eating the bread and veggies (which was actually pretty good). All things considered it was a good place for drinks and appetizers but I didn't think the entrees were great.

Great service and beer selection. Seems like a nice mix of locals and people people who are just passing through. Nice lighting added to the ambiance and music playing was a nice mix .

went to brunch on sunday 01/19, bartender never gave back my debit card after he said he had to put a cc on file for my drinks and food. My account is being over drafted and still being charged when they are not even open, they open at 4pm and my card got charged for the second time.

If you want cheap drinks and appetizers for happy hour, you can't go wrong here. The food isn't up for a Michelin Star, but it's the best version of what you'd expect for a place like this. I think we got 2 cocktails, 2 beers and 4 apps for $30.

Great food, unfortunately something is wrong with the Cities sewage system. When sitting outside you'd get a strong whiff of raw sewage. The odor had also made its way inside. I still give it four stars because the service and food was excellent.

GREAT Happy Hour. Katrina was wonderful. We shared the tuna wontons and the Pad Thai.... and everything was excellent. Been there before, we were there tonight and we will be back again.

I have to echo another reviewer's comments. The staff are very nice, the food was decent bar, finger foods. It wasn't busy at all given it was an hour before the show & there is limited options here. Great selection of Florida craft beers to wash down the food - can't complain about that, if that's your objective!
