Big Louie's Pizzeria of Sistrunk

We ordered $35 worth of food the first night through Slice. They were supposed to close at 10pm and the cook had to leave early and close early. My wife arrived to pick up the food and the food was sitting in boxes on the ground with bugs crawling on them. The server who had waited with the food said she had been outside for 30 minutes with our food. OK, accidents happen, emergencies happen. The food was hastily prepared, all of the specialty pizza seemed to be an old piece of cheese or pepperoni with toppings thrown on and reheated. The rollatini was advertised as thinly sliced eggplant wrapped around ricotta and marinara sauce with melted cheese on top. What we received was a metal tin of ricotta with a layer of eggplant, slathered in marinara and barely melted cheese. Functionally it was more akin to an eggplant parmesan sans noodles than how they advertised it. My wife's salad didnt have any dressing. But again, emergencies happen.

We called the next day and made the store aware of the scenario and Misty was very great with my wife and offered to make it better. She was amazing and offered exceptional customer service. She offered to replace it all, free of charge. We appreciated the gesture and, wanting to support a small business (reassured by the exceptional customer service) we took her up on her offer and placed an additional order for about $50. We got a Sicilian style cheese pizza, tiramisu, a canoli, and a couple of salads.

The quality of the food was terrible. It was not a hasty accident. They just serve bad pizza. The Sicilian pizza bubbled so badly and all the cheese ran to the edges while the sauce dried out. My children refused to eat it because they insisted it was pepperoni pizza because it honestly was so dry it looked like pepperonis were on it. The tiramisu came thrown in a container and smeared all over the container. The replaced individual slices were once again already cooked slices with additional toppings thrown on and poorly reheated until the new cheese on top was barely melted. The only thing that looked edible was the canolli but we were so put off by the rest of the food we didnt even eat that.

My wife picked up the order at 7 pm and I returned ALL of the food, from both nights, at 830pm when I got home from work so that my wife didnt have to load the kids up to return the food. I did not ask for a refund and did not ask them to replace the food. I understand that small restaurants run on razor thin margins and did not want to put them out in a financial way. I just wanted them to know that we were very unsatisfied with the quality (as Misty had asked us to provide feedback).

A cook told me that I that I was lying. That of course the food looked bad, it had been 4 hours since it had been picked up etc. He proceeded to throw a temper tantrum and aggressively grab the food of the counter to throw it away, knocking multiple boxes to the floor.

I really wish things had gone differently. At a lower price point, with a more honest depiction of the food that they are selling, the experience would have been fine and less upsetting.

Can't speak enough to the quality of customer service that Misty provided though. Absolutely stellar, kind person.

Just had an amazing chicken parmigiana.. requested it to be grilled/pan fried rather than deep fried. It was very authentic and absolutely perfect! First time here as I’m from australia! Next year I plan to return and I’ll definitely come here again!

The 2 slice & soda for $5.99 supposed to come with a can soda they always out and upcharge you $1 for fountain drink I don't like that but other than that the food is good.

Fabio has blessed me twice at this location. The food is amazing and they helped me feed over 60 people, TWICE.

You know sometimes you just go places because of the service you get… if I came back here, this would be one of those scenarios. Based off the reviews, I expected a delicious pizza. Idk, we come from the Midwest and have some prettyyy good pizza spots being so close to Chicago. This pizza was definitely mid (aka not that good). Mozarella sticks were enjoyable. I wish we had got more food to try, since other items do look appetizing however $40 for a large pizza and mozzarella sticks I didn’t want to spend much more. Online the prices are different vs what I was quoted over the phone but I see they have coupons online too. We ordered over the phone bc for some reason our card wasn’t being accepted online.

The lady at the register who took our order was soooooo sweet, polite and called me “baby” which truly made me feel at home, warm, and made me miss my grandma. I appreciate her generosity and kindhearted-ness as today has been a hell of a day and it was nice to have that little ounce of joy and humanity during this time. So despite the pizza being ok, I would go back to try something new just because of her service. I wish I got her name. She is a gem.

Love this place. Great customer service and great food

Recently, order a pizza (through a 3rd party) and when we open the pizza at home it has a small metal string on the pizza. We communicated to the third party. The 3rd party informed that there would be no resolution because the vendor informed that apparently they “checked” twice before sending it out. The pizza was not a delivery rather it was a carry out. If you buy from them, check the pizza on the site otherwise, the won’t accept their error
