A Date to Remember – Thanks to Liz!
I recently visited The House on the River
for a brunch date, and while the food and ambiance were lovely, what truly made the evening unforgettable was our waitress, Liz.

From the moment we sat down, Liz made us feel incredibly welcomed. She had this down-to-earth, hilarious energy that instantly set the tone for a relaxed and joyful day. My date and I were already having a great time, but Liz brought it to the next level — cracking jokes, making us laugh non-stop, and even throwing in the sweetest compliments that made us both blush a little (in the best way!).

She had that rare ability to strike the perfect balance between attentive service and genuine connection. It honestly felt like we had a friend at the table with us. Her humor, warmth, and authentic kindness made our date even more special.

If you’re heading to The House on the River, do yourself a favor and ask for Liz. She doesn’t just serve a meal — she serves up an unforgettable experience. I am definitely going to miss this place and plan return here on my next trip to Fourt Lauderdale!

We held a graduation brunch celebration at House on the River in Ft. Lauderdale and our experience was phenomenal from coordination efforts to execution. Their team provides incredible service, the food is delicious and the ambiance/decor whether inside, outside, downstairs or upstairs makes the visit magical. There is a beautiful scenery from the space to the waterways. We tried the chicken and waffles, short rib sliders, pancakes, fresh fruit, crossaints, coffee, mimosas, everything was so tasty. Our event coordinator was so thoughful, she made us feel at home. There was so much attentiveness and care, I would host here for every special occassion. We plan to return soon just for a regular visit. An unforgettable place!

Why do they serve bread with mold??? That's not sanitary

I come here a lot for pre dinner cocktails at the bar. Jill is literally the best bartender! Quick and attentive and makes the BEST espresso martini ever. Highly recommend 👌🏻

Had the loveliest dinner. The atmosphere is 10/10 and is such a great date night spot. Alex was our server and he was SO pleasant and attentive. Food was quick and tasty. Will be returning!

Brutally hot in the 2nd floor long front room.

This is a beautiful restaurant on the river and it's very romantic. Alex was our server and he was amazing! He recommended the short rib and he wasn't wrong, it was the best short rib I've ever had.

We had the brunch board for 2 and it was a great way to try some of the offerings they had. It was plenty of food and super yummy. The cocktails were delicious as well. Unlimited mimosa for me!

The food was good, service was lackluster, but the atmosphere was quite pleasant.

The overall aesthetic and concept are absolutely beautiful and the service was great. Unfortunately, the food didn’t live up to the setting, it was just average. It’s a shame, because with such a stunning waterfront location, a little more effort in the kitchen could make this place truly exceptional

We came here for my best friends bachelorette and it was such a great experience! Razi was our server and he was super nice and attentive- the owner even sent over a bottle of champagne for us. Food was delicious and beautiful setting!

I am writing this review to express my frustration and disappointment with my recent attempts to book an event space with House on the River. I have been trying to secure a reservation since December 5, 2024, but unfortunately, my experience has been far from satisfactory.

Initially, I attempted to reach the venue by phone, but I was unable to get through due to a full voicemail inbox. On December 6, I reached out via Instagram, and I received a message stating that someone would be in contact with me. The following day, I received a call, but the representative I spoke with was not helpful and quickly rushed me off the phone, indicating that an event manager would reach out to me. Days passed without any follow-up, so I sent another message on Instagram. I was assured that someone would contact me. On December 12, I received a call from Ernest, but when I explained that I was in the middle of a important appointment and asked if he could return my call later, he appeared aggravated and insisted that I call him back when I was finished. I did so two hours later, but he did not answer and has not contacted me since. Despite multiple attempts to resolve the issue, I have not received any further communication, though the Instagram account continues to post promotional messages about booking events. I have also requested to speak with someone in a higher position, but there has been no response.

Given the glowing recommendations from friends, I am truly disappointed by the lack of professionalism and responsiveness in this instance.

Update: I ended up canceling my bridesmaids proposal at House on the River and going to Shooters waterfront instead. The manager from House on the river was supposed to give me a tour. I ended up waiting an hour and a half to get a tour with my mom and grandmother The host at the time was very rude and trying to make me leave even though I drove 8 Hours into town to see this place and get a tour I was promised. I let the manager know that the host was very rude and that I was unsure about continuing with their services after dealing with them on social media and feeling unwelcome. The manager let me know that this wasn’t the first complaint the host has gotten for being rude and assured me that she would be there the day of my event. At the end I was very disappointed and cancelled from all the red flags that came from this. I do not recommend.
