the waitress was a bit short with us, but not a big deal since it was rush hour. It was our first time here, we weren’t familiar with the menu. Ordered the Johnny cakes and they came out plain. Waitress said nothing about it the 3x she walked by. We had to google the menu later to find out we were missing a blueberry compote and crunchy topping. A bit upsetting.

This is a honest feedback coz we used to love to go 43rd street almost every weekends. However, we’ve had couple of bad experiences which unfortunately had crossed 43rd street from our list.
The very first issue was service. E.g. we had a really bad experience with one of the waitress who has been very rude to us the whole time. From the moment we sat down she’s been giving us altitude and rushed us to finish and pay within 30 minutes. I know coz I clearly remember I checked my watch and it was 25 minutes-ish.
Also the food has degraded noticeably too. I used to love their special menu coz there’s also something good. But it wasn’t the case any more. E.g. Last time we ordered this chocolate sponge cake which was just way too sweet, no matter in any standard. And I can name more tbh.
Overall I think this is now just another ordinary breakfasts place and I’d rather just go to Keke’s.

The place was incredibly clean and the staff were phenomenal but the food itself was subpar, I took the chicken fried biscuit to go and the biscuit had hairs in it, not like on the outside but inside the biscuit itself. For the price that everything was and the fact that I found hair in my leftover food I won't be visiting again.

I don't understand the cult following this place has. We just moved to the area and this place has been recommended over and over again. The place was clean and nice inside, bright with a lot of seating. The service was good and the staff was friendly. The food was okay, but nothing to return for. It has no flavor or seasoning. My hashbrowns were crispy on one side and completely uncooked on the other side so it was just greasy soggy wet hash browns. The omelette was decent but still no seasoning, not even salt or pepper. The home fries are just a deep fried diced up Idaho potato with absolutely no seasoning on it. If you need a basic run-of-the-mill breakfast with nothing added, this is your place. Everybody in the establishment was 60+ when we went which makes sense bc it reminded me of hospital food. There are much better choices for breakfast with a lot more flavor. It wouldn't take much to elevate this place but it's too basic for our tastes.

A Gainesville staple. My partner and I have made this our weekly brunch date spot because between the incredible weekend specials and the lovely staff we always know we are in for a great time.

They had me at home fries. And their turkey sausage was amazing - spicy and delicious. Prices were quite reasonable. Nice large portions.

The country fried steak was decent but could have been thicker. The pancake was thick and heavy. The biscuit was a little dry and burnt. The hasbrowns were good. The buster was good but could have used a little more meta for the price. The service was fast and got our food within 15 minutes of ordering at 11:30am.

This is such a fabulous classic diner. Every time we go, I see waiters happily greeting regulars. The specials are always fun and interesting. Sometimes, there is a wait, but it goes quickly. I totally recommend this to anyone who is looking for just some really good brunch to feed your soul.
Parking: Though the lot is almost always full, we have always found a spot when we arrive.
Kid-friendliness: There are great basic traditional foods for everyone, and the coloring page placemats are so classic.
Wheelchair accessibility: Everything is flat. It could be a bit difficult to navigate all the tables and chairs on a busy day, and the doors are not automatic, so someone would need to hold them open for you. The bathrooms are fairly accessible.

A more common/expected diner experience. The food was not too impressive, but they had some creativity to the menu and specials, at least. An effectively untoasted English muffin on an egg benedict is not a pleasant experience for the palate. It's nice they have nitro cold brew available, but the price point ($6) for it at a diner is a bit pretentious. Their hash browns were quite good.
Parking: Parking can be full during busy times.

Prices are getting crazy. $40 for two people take out breakfast ($13.99 entrees and two sides....) and then the kitchen staff decides to smear guacamole all over the top of the dishes despite that ingredient not even being listed on the menu. If you are gonna charge these kind of prices you gotta get your own menu correct.
Girl at the front was very sweet but that doesn't fix the issues and the fact that I'm expected to make two trips to get the correct $40 breakfast we paid for.
With the prices being on the higher end and the food being good not great, along with messing up their own menu, unlikely we'll return.
