They did have a vegan dessert. But they should just take the vegan appetizers off the menu if they’re not going to have them

We walked to Alpin from our downtown bed & breakfast and we were so glad we discovered it! We sat outside and had a delicious French meal and great wine.

Not sure why some previous reviewers left 1 star reviews. This place is a hidden gem in Gainesville and well parking is super easy with a parking garage right next door. Pretty easy for a downtown restaurant.
My family came in right at opening and was promptly greeted and seated right away. Waitress was kind and explained the specials for the evening. Food took a reasonable time to come out and everything we had from the Tapas to the main entry was fresh and delicious. Even my 3 year old went ham on the croque. Not a huge drinker but the menu there look intriguing with lots of European options that I may try on the next visit. Will definitely be back.

Alpine Bistro is our favorite restaurant in Gainesville. The food is always delicious. We recommend especially the French onion soup. We like to arrive at six for dinner in order to beat the crowd. Given the restaurant's downtown location, the parking is tight, but the trip is well worth the effort!

Absolutely excellent space with a great atmosphere and even better food. I'm always blown away by the quality of the food, drinks, and service. It's clear that there's care and pride put into the planning and crafting in every aspect of this dining space. I would highly recommend checking out their pasta nights - I've yet to be disappointed.

Parking: Parking in Gainesville blows but there's accessible and affordable parking near alpin.

The staff was exceptional, especially our bartender. The food was spectacular, we had late night menu crepes. The crepe menu starts after 10pm, and they were perfect. The cocktails were perfect as well. Thanks Alpin Bistro!

Never had bad food, drinks, or service here. The atmosphere is very cozy. Drinks can get a little expensive, but they're absolutely worth it. My favorite date spot.

One of my favorite places to eat. Great food, people, vibe, etc. Freshly made pasta on Thursdays, brunch on Saturdays, and a great French Bistro menu all the time. If you haven't visited yet, you're missing out.

My wife and I visited Alpin for an early weekday dinner after parking in the city garage across the street, There was no way to pay, so it was gratis. We initially chose to sit in the enclosed garden area outside, but the seating was wet from a recent rain, so so settled down at an inside table, with a bench on one side and chairs the other. It's a big room with an open kitchen. Let's get to it. Five stars (5*) is tops. My wife and I have become light eaters, and Alpin offers some smaller plates, so this was ideal for us. We grazed and split everything. ESCARGOT 1* Six arrived in a deep pan with six depressions for the critters and broth. Unfortunately for us, the depressions are very shallow, so the broth was barely there. Alpin doesn't get it. Escargot lovers relish dipping and sopping up the parsley/garlic butter broth with chunks of French bread, that being the best part of the routine after dispatching the snails. Further, neither one of us could taste garlic, so...a big disappointment at $11. BALSAMIC BRIE CHAUD 5* Melted brie topped with balsamic vinegar and served over pears bit and chopped nuts, with bread. Yum! CROUTE FORESTIERE 4* A chunk of sourdough bread "dipped in garlic, white wine, and brandy" topped with cheese and, for us, mushrooms and onions...then baked. Very tasty and a generous portion. It was offered with some kind of cabbage side; I paid extra for a side salad, which was very good. PEACH & GINGER TART 4* This was a special of the day, house made, and was a good finale for our meal. But neither of us could detect any ginger, which my wife loves, and that's why we ordered it. BEVERAGES I had a Bordeaux blend that was pleasant at best, with no mouth and no follow. 2* M'lady had a non-alcoholic concoction that tasted like a fruity soft drink, but not worth $11. Not even close. 1* NOTES The setup: Each guest is supplied with a cheap, tinny knife and fork wrapped in a cheap, tacky dollar store napkin. The table gets a bottle of good city water and a carafe of ice cubes. The Ambiance: Contemporary background music accompanied, from time to time, by alarming crashes and bangs from the nearby kitchen area. Service Friendly and attentive The Check: Out the door for $86 plus tip. Yes, we will definitely return, but will order better next time. It was an enjoyable change of pace for us.
