Caribbean Spice

I used to go to Caribbean Spice 30 years ago when it was on University Avenue. Today, the beef and cheese patty with coco bread is still one of the consistently delicious meals I've ever had. So simple but so good, I would eat it every day if I could and never get tired of it.

I am submitting this complaint regarding the service I received during my recent visit. Upon receiving my order, I noticed that the oxtails served were extremely small and not consistent with the portion or quality expected. When I attempted to address this with the staff, my concerns were dismissed.

I requested a way to send photos of the meal so management could see exactly what was served. However, I was told that they would not accept any photos. When I asked to speak with a manager, I was informed that they were unavailable, despite clearly hearing them in the background instructing staff and stating, “We are not doing any refunds.” At no point did I request a refund; I only asked for an appropriate channel to share the photos and have the issue acknowledged.

This lack of transparency, refusal to communicate directly, and unwillingness to address a legitimate concern is unacceptable. I am submitting this complaint so that the matter can be properly reviewed and so future customers do not experience the same treatment.

Hands down the best Jamaican restaurant in Gainesville. You can literally get anything here and you will be satisfied with genuine Jamaican food. The owner is incredibly kind and you should definitely give it a visit.

There was a lady in here complaining to staff bc they were out of mild beef patties.. She was being VERY rude and the staff was SOOOO friendly, professional and patient!!

Some of the best lunch in town. Never disappoints. Curry goat + spicy patty = happy tummy.

My son and I tried Caribbean Spice for the first time today. The oxtails are the most tender I have ever had and the brown stew chicken is extremely tender and flavorful as well. The plantains are cooked perfectly. The cabbage is also delicious and retains a nice crunch. I will definitely be back again!!

went on 12/15/2025. the curry chicken was absolutely disgusting. no flavor/no salt, stingy with the sauce, and the rice was dry. it didn't even smell like curry, so i should have realized something was off. the reviews said it was the best which is why i went. i don't know if this was just an off day, but i will never go back. it was so bad that my night was ruined after i ate it and i had to go to chipotle for a new meal. this was a waste of $16 and ended up in the trash. do better!!!!!

I find food trucks pretty hit or miss and I’ll say that Caribbean Spice’s food truck was a total hit!! Yummy Jamaican patties at a good price with friendly service. I’m
not sure if it’s always there, but I enjoyed it while it was parked at First Mag brewery on a Saturday night.

Walked over here while my truck was being unloaded next door and it was worth it. I got the jerk chicken and it was melt off the bone tender with just the right amount of spices. I’d definitely come again and try the patties
