I had my first experience at Emiliano's Cafe recently for a lunch with coworkers. I've heard about Emiliano's for years, assumed it would be good if not great, and I was fully underwhelmed. I found the food bland at best. Wouldn't touch the "salsa" again with a 39 and a half foot pole. Our server was nice enough but far from impressive. The long and the short of it: I've been to Emiliano's once and when I leave this town....I will have gone to Emiliano's once.
Incredible! I'm so glad I was able to enjoy this before they close. I'm sad to see Emiliano's go but am happy for new adventures! Much love!
Ate there for New Years Eve. After earing there i am so sad it's closing, food was amazing, service was spectacular, and atmosphere was sophisticatedly laid back. We had paella, empanadas, black bean cakes, mofongo, and sangria. Would love to do it again, but again, they are unfortunately closing for good.
Turns out we are a part of the last dinner service of this very loved cafe!! Good bye Emiliano’s!!! We have been a part of this cafe for more than a decade now. We came here when we got married and when I graduated. This place is legendary. And beautiful. We will miss you.
A heads up. The news on Gainesville's Emiliano's is that it's closing for a while, I was told Dec. 31, 2019, but will reopen "in about a year," at another location. By all means call to confirm.
Didn’t know they were closing at the end of the month. Megan has been here before so we went in. Everyone was so friendly and sad they were closing after 37 years. Met the owner, who was so nice. She deserves to retire and play with her grandchildren, but it is obvious she will be missed! So glad I got to experience it. Sorry it is closing!
After some questionable experiences in the past, I decided to give it another shot. The monitor were good and strong. The appetizers yummy and my favorite, the ceviche, was good. Overall a good time.
Great Cuban fare with a modern twist. Friendly server. Overall great experience.
Nooooo I heard you guys were closing! And Red Onion just closed too! You both were like my favorite restaurants. Downtown won't be the same without Emiliano's and your crab cake eggs benedict.
Always a favorite restaurant of ours in Gainesville. Grateful for all the wonderful memories and meals we have had here.

Great atmosphere with good service. Good selection of Cuban/Latin/Caribbean food. Wife had the Ropa Vieja and I had the El Gran Camaron. Both were superb. Portions were enough but probably would order an appetizer next time.
Great food every time. I've come here for ladies night with my girlfriends during their happy hour on tapas and drinks and enjoyed everything. There's an atmosphere where you can sit and talk for a long time.
This place makes me like going back home, so warm and gives me a refreshing feeling. I love staying there for hours having coffee and some snacks with my friends, enjoying our friendly discussions, time flies then we feel hungry again so we decide to stay longer and have a drink along with a delicious meal. I just love this place
It was good for the most part. Service and staff very friendly. We ordered crab Brie app. Not a good combo in my opinion. Ordered a Pork Mofongo. Very greasy. It was okay just too greasy. Good coffee.
My husband and I were celebrating my birthday and Veterans day in one shot. This was an alternate plan and I'm so glad we came. The ambiance was relaxed, there was live entertainment and the food was delicious. I felt like we were in a movie. Amanda, our server was knowledgeable, courteous and provided her recommendations. We were well served. Will definitely return to Emiliano's.
